Something is Happening from 2008 just superb and watching that makes me a bit sad that we wont be seeing that line again
I've exceptionally included Badfinger even though none of them played in Man, however they are near neighbours and there were Iceberg appearances so there.
Keep 'em peeled.
They loaned their guitars - that's good enough excuse in itself!Quite so, Mr Allan. And provided sterling support on the 'Slow Motion' tour. Plus the two songs are absolutely boom shanka! If jangly power pop is your thing, you will see links from the badfinger clips to The Raspberries who were in a similar stylee.

Good ruling Allan. Therefore all my London Country footage will be added to this thread as and when there is any!Great, I always liked those green RTs!
it is from 1797 and features rather slick performances from four fifths of the original Manband....Very good quality for a recording from 1797... ;D

The Bystanders - 98.6: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T482MzpstNo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T482MzpstNo)Many thanks for these Mr N. On viewing the record sleeves whilst listening to the music something seemed familar to me. Dug out all my Bystanders singles and low and behold the picture of the Bystanders Spanish release 98.6 is the one I have, pen mark and all. Signed by a very young Micky Jones, I'd make him about nineteen or twenty at the time.

Wahey! That's great, John.
Some more clips....stepping in for an injured TW in 1971 was Ron Howden, who was normally in the employ of Mssrs Nektar, who don't sound like Man at all.
Nektar - excerpt from 'Remember The Future': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FnANLIb0P4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FnANLIb0P4)
Miming in 1974.
Nektar - 'Desolation Valley': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKEy-eZKNdE&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKEy-eZKNdE&feature=related)
Nicely mixing footage from a New Jersey gig in 2002 and OGWT footage from 1972 (?) and taken from the 'Nektar Live' DVD.
I wish they'd just stuck the OGWT clip up as it was - is this available anywhere?
Blown away (BBC sessions 1974)
Scotch corner (1973-1974 sessions)

Not that I'm aware, Rob - but when have you known me to be aware? Rest assured the powerful Nationsounds Bloodhounds have the scent and will not let up....
For today's lesson I have found some clips of Man's 'comeback' gig at The Marquee, 1983. These have been taken from the 'Man Live' DVD - the tie in LP/CD was 'Friday 13th' and features some different tracks to the DVD. The band was required to play something from each era. Man historians/psychologists should bear in mind that this version of the band was, how can I put it, a 'speedier' version and the songs treated accordingly. Nevertheless....
Bananas: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kA6ShRmUgCE&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kA6ShRmUgCE&feature=related)
C'Mon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LWEy2jwOY0&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LWEy2jwOY0&feature=related)
Talk About A Morning: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7o9sYFOuCmY&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7o9sYFOuCmY&feature=related)
Back Together Again/Hard Way To Die: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwLpH2Kdacw&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwLpH2Kdacw&feature=related)
Yes - it was always as if someone was waving a chequered flag during C'Mon.Yes, Talk about a morning is great. From this era I also like the way they played Kerosene.
However - Talk About A Morning must rate as one of the best vocal performances Micky ever gave....
And yes, although there were special songs like Back into the future (and rare songs like Asylum, Back together again and Even visionaries go blind)
"classical" songs like Romain, C'mon, BITTF, Bananas and Ride and the view were played too much fast and the drums too much uncomplicated.
Of course, this will never happen.
Being primarily a bassist, I tend to look at this aspect first - for example, what a joy it was to hear John McKenzie's playing on 'Something Is Happening'.Yes, JM is my favourite Man bass player. In fact I think he is the best bass player Man has ever had.
Yes, JM is my favourite Man bass player. In fact I think he is the best bass player Man has ever had.
@ Joan: From my point of view the speed can be credited almost entirely to Pugwash....yes, I suppose so, I'm a drummer too and the speed of songs (the tempo) is our first worry...and our main fault...
Yes, JM is my favourite Man bass player. In fact I think he is the best bass player Man has ever had.
I think JM was the best in terms of technical ability. However...I think Will Youatt was the ideal bassist for the type of Man stuff I like the best. He managed to take the driving elements of Martin's style and add to it with nice variations, always on the button as the music would ebb and flow.
...yep!Blown away (BBC sessions 1974)
Scotch corner (1973-1974 sessions)
Good find! These must be the ones to which Davey referred earlier. They were recorded on 27 Feb 1974 and were first transmitted on 'Sounds Of The Seventies' on 1 April. 'Blown Away' is a beltingly good version.
Of course, this will never happen.

Oh, the 1969 video is not available anymore. >:(...
Do we have any policeman here? Is Big Brother watching us?
I don't see any problem to share this video and make it public. It is official? ???
If not what have to do the fans to get this material?

Senor N,
Doubt it, it does list the tracks, Man playing Daughter of the fireplace..
Youtube tells me (sorry folks, us) someone's taken the video off the platform due to legal reasons ... :'(Please just tell us why. ???
Oh, and make sure it's PAL.. :-X :-X :-X :-*

Rather groovy I thought, with George on Strat.
Great! Thanks a lot. Now I have that bit in my head.
I'm not going to sleep tonight... >:(
Good morning Martin....nice sleep?
can understand protecting new material but there is so much history up there too...anyone have feelings about it?
One for Joan here ...just found Terry drumming alongside Dave Charles ..or have you seen it ???....yes, many thanks! ;)not only that but before he had his Ponytail removedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMYT3DoMOPU
I am sure I have a cassette tape of the "Blown away" recording somewhere. I will explore the loft! The Youtube version is from the Radio 1 broadcast (1973?) which also featured Romaine and Scotch Corner (or God Gave Us Turtles as it was called then).
I have found a tape I made off the Whistle Test in early 1974. It's a bit rough as I used an external mike (technology has moved on a tad since then) - it's Iceberg playing Jayhawk Special with Breeze, Charles and Ace I think.
...I was disappointed when I bought the record cos the live version was better!
I have found a recording of the Radio 1 in concert (Live in London) set. I think it is the same as the CD except that Andy Dunkley is on as MC.
I also found a tape (it was cutting edge technology in those days!) made in the concert hall at Birminghan off the Up for the Day Tour in 73...
Talking of Radio 1 my final contibution from the vaults is a recording of the single A Hard Way To Live being broadcast on the Dave Lee Travis Show! Chart fame for Mr Leonard? Sadly not.
How about someone converting to digital and putting on Dime (or whatever)?Would Veoh do ya ? As has been said it is not great quality..but it captures the spirit of the event ..the whole event is also a large file when ripped from VHS ..so the Man part is available... ;)
Never heard of Veoh before - I assume this is what you are referring to:How about someone converting to digital and putting on Dime (or whatever)?Would Veoh do ya ? Many thanks for the entire concert! The other man on guitar I think is Roger Hoodless ....
I've registered and downloaded it.
I've seen only parts. I don't know all the songs, there are some songs from The Twang dinasty album and I almost don't know it.
It would be great to do a set-list of the concert, with the guests and all.
I see Deke, Micky, Martin, Pugwash, Clive, Terry, Tweke and Ray. There is other man on guitar I don't know right now.
It's really pathetic to see a completely drunk Terry Williams trying to play the drums.... :-[
Now can someone please make a copy of Man at Stonehenge available somewhere please , but not on Dime...Dime is closed to new accounts at the moment. The number of users on DimeADozen is permanently 'full' but, equally, old unused accounts are constantly being deleted. If you look at the stats, then there were 261 new users signed up in the last 24 hours. You just have to be persistent.
Never heard of Veoh before - I assume this is what you are referring to:

Appears to be low quality streaming video. Not sure that I am keen on installing their client to view the whole thing, either. Better than nothing, but surely someone out there has a better quality source than this.

I suppose they weren't yet because the incorrect (in this case correct ;D) titles of the songs and the consequent difficulty to find them....

Just had salt laden winds of 75 mph, burned the leaves off trees, shrubs, and ended the harvest of anything green. Still have tates, parsnips, carrots, beetroot, turnips and sweedes in the ground. Just composted the remains of the lettuce. Tops have gone off the potatoes, time to dig them up.. Loads of windfall apples, plums about. Highest wind so far this year was 78 mph back in february.. It's not the wind that's the problem, it's the salt spray it carries with it.. Exciting..

And Jules - none of this was bouncing!

An updated and definitive list of 90+ MAN audios and videos in Youtube:
Many are called is from London 75 then?
OK, all checked, just added to the list "Talk about a morning" from 1983.
If you know more MAN audios/videos just tell me and I'll put them in my list.
Folks - I am pretty sure I have somewhere a video of a promo Man did for 'Women', and a performance of 'Kangaroo' on Welsh TV's Elinor chat show.
Have these appeared anywhere yet? And how can I get them up if not?
Funny, I thought 'Women' was a pretty average track, but have come to appreciate it more as the years go by.In fact I don't know the song "Women".... ::)
...Also, Deke's perfomance of Map of India from a Welsh TV show.

we did talk of them in this topic ***List of MAN TV VIDEOS*** Rare videos we have to see before dying...]
List updated with all the new videos:Joan, This is brilliant, obviously you have put a lot of hard work into making this comprehensive list of Man and related Youtube renditions. You need to put this up under its own title, so it can be easily accessed. I read it the other night and then today had to hunt round to find it.

(I don't know how to make a permanent post. That's Jules decision...)I've added a sticky locked topic for essential links in the Forum Central section. Joan, yours is the first really essential link. Many thanks for pulling that together.
A case of The 'Roid and the View perhaps?
Bugger it. Piles?..that could be wot caused 'em..
Would youtube clips of The Green Ray qualify for inclusion on your fine list?
Ken Whaley and Malcolm Morley are 'hard' links. Gets into 'softer' links with Richard Treece and Deke.
Many thanks for all the work you've put in Joan.
Cracking. Is / was this show available anywhere?
hey Joan, here are a few more to add to the list: Let the good times roll,7171 551, and Born with a future from the farewell live at the roundhouse '76 movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbKPtEDwvVE&feature=share ...if you go to this guys page and scroll all the way to the bottom of his 400 uploads, you will find Bananas and C'mon as well...i remember leaving the video store one time and catching this video out of the corner of my eye on the stairwell.the only song i knew from the set so far had been Born with a future...wow! i was blown away...Man just got more better the more i got into them...cheers...Hi Dave
