Just in case anybody intends to visit the Rhondda on wednesday evening to see the band some bad news - its been cancelled. Went to buy a ticket this morning and was told that no tickets at all had been sold so they had no option but to cancel.
I assume the Leeds, Doncaster and Fife ones are still on.

Even allowing for dwindling audience numbers in general, it's a sad day when Man can't sell a single ticket for a gig in Wales.

They could have used the local press - I can just see the headline: "Help Me Rhondda"!!!

You're right of course, Davey. Ok, a sad day when a Man gig in Wales gets pulled through lack of interest.
However.

yes i was just making a little joke(cue exuberant knee slapping laughter :D )...and technically you are right because the ticket in question was not actually sold...but one could also make the argument that it wasn't promoted properly.a good promoter can often fill a room or at least get a few people in.or so i've been led to believe...

Blaming the promoter is of corse the first port of call. I toured with theatre companies for 14 years (long years) and we always blamed the publicity and marketing officer of the company for a poor house. I'm not allowed to do that any more, not least because I married her. But in the case of the Parc Hall, you can't help feeling they didn't pull out ALL the stops to get an Welsh audience for the legendary etc etc
Of course there will be those who are pleased to see the new line-up hit this wall. But in the interests of all Welsh music and all live bands, I hope they can refrain from gloating just at the moment. There but for the grace of God and another marketing officer goes another line-up of another band in another venue.

I wonder.....on the one hand could the split have resulted in zero ticket sales? Particularly being on home territory where maybe there is a stronger depth of feeling about what happened.
Or on the other hand, I don't know how many this venue holds, but I never purchased a ticket in advance for a Man gig (post 76 anyway), no point. I've never known anyone who did. Zero advance ticket sales don't mean anything and there may well have been an audience........?

Bollocks! And there was I thinking about going down for it and staying with my Mam.
No matter which side of the "argument" you stand, it's ludicrous that Man can't sell tickets when U2 (a band that the great Alan Jenkins of the Thurston Lava Tube describes as having less talent than "a small ugly shed") can fill huge venues even unto desecrating the hallowed Millenium Stadium.

In simple talk, new Man band are actually very good and well worth going to see.

Here here Alfie.We have Stray on in our football club in November and its a hell of a job selling advance tickets but we know on the night well have around 100 or so in attendance(and there still asking when Man are coming back to the venue,I just wish some of the crowd made the effort to travel a hour up the road to the Wrexham gig.) ???

Err lloydie, I'm not sure what rant Alfie was on, but it was little old me who posed the question why bother about advance ticket sales. Attendees of a Man gig will not buy in advance as there is no point. As I said, there may well have been a reasonable audience.

I guess this must qualify the band for an entry in the Guinness
book of Records for the lowest advance ticket sales for a gig ever!

Maybe this, following on from people asking for refunds at Pontardawe, should be sending the band some messages about how popular they are in their South Wales heartland at the moment.

Gavin, just a thought..... technically correct. can't get lower than zero adv sales, but I'd be interested to know how many adv tickets for gigs in the 80's.90's, early00's would have been sold. I don't know, but I would suspect there's been zero adv before? Repeating myself, but why buy in advance when you know it won't be a full house (especially when once I phoned the Witchwood prior to a gig, by the time the booking fee had been added, it was more expensive to buy in advance than to pay on the door!).
