Title: Corncrackers mentioned on BigL radio
Post by: Pete T on April 16, 2008, 02:17:10 PM
(Edits in red) Just got a mailing from Jim Driver of the 100 club. He gives a link to this radio site, so thought I'd have a listen to the Beach Boys show. First song being Fun, fun, fun, the DJ (Mike Read I think) then said the first version of that song he heard was by the (Welsh band) Corncrackers (who evolved into the untamed).. Sadly he doesn't play their version..

Hi Pete T, The Corncrackers evolved into The Dream I believe. Seen the Dream when I was about 15 years of age, absolutely brilliant live. In all the years I've been collecting music never even come across a bootleg recording of this group. Have you any knowledge of any recordings made by them. Even back then Deke was doing the seagull sounds. John B.

JB,

I'd love to say I had something, hoped this topik might produce something,.. Nothing yet, perhaps Mike Cross (sorry Mike, just assume you have a lot of bootleggy things!) has something, or Jules, or.. Who knows.. Might just have to make do with the excellent Effigy DVD..

I'm hoping something may come out of the woodwork here ! There must be a lot of pre-man stuff somewhere..
