Plenty of time to break in a new guitarist then.

So Farewell then Glenn
His amp went past ten
He had a nice face
And was pretty good on bass

Can't believe that Gong has already sold out their Hebden Bridge gig  next March 2022. Where did that come from? 😁😄
Went to see Gong at Bury St Edmunds last night - only about 15% full - but I suppose Suffolk is a jaunt from Yorkshire
It was the 13th gig of their re-arranged, rearranged, tour - which may have been the problem, the promotor may have advertised the original show, and possibly the first rearranged one, there was nothing for this
Ian East, the saxophonist, was recognized by someone in town in the afternoon, so was clearly a fan, but he didn't know about the gig in his own home town
A brilliant gig despite the turn out, the band didn't hold back, or shorten the set, and were genuinely thankful to those of us who did turn out, in the post-show chat around the merchandise stall
All the band played with Daevid Allen in 2014-15 and some have been there since 2009/2010, so it still has the original ethos (not that Allen was a particularly permanent feature of the old line-ups)
If you have ever liked them, I would recommend it - gig list at https://www.planetgong.co.uk/ then select gigs and calendar

Man - General Discussion / Re: 2022 - UK Spring Tour dates just added

There were seats at tables at the Beaverwood. It's a pleasant venue in working man's club style. The audience was small (80 or 90 maybe 100 tops) but appreciative. They played the Big Five or maybe that should now be the Big Six to include Malcolm taking vocals on "The Ride and the View". Josh looked more comfortable than when I have seen him on previous gigs. James Beck is a great guitarist. Martin joked to the effect that if every bloke in the audience had brought a woman they would be minted. He also observed that some of the audience were even older than him.

Here are some photos https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B0p5GV49aR0UKb

I'm not sure what the economics of them doing small gigs like this might be but hopefully it's profitable/enjoyable enough for them to want to continue doing them. This was the last of four gigs in the UK this Spring & they have a similar number this autumn.

Good news, 'Celia Gang' has now raised over 300 for the Brain Tumour Charity in memory of Micky.

Only a few CDs left, first come first served, or a Digital Download option available here: http://www.nicknation.co.uk/CeliaGang.html

Bandcamp are waiving their admittedly reasonable 15% fee on Friday 4 March (Download only) so that would be a good time...

We (myself & my somewhat reluctant wife :))) are going to see Man at The Beaverwood Club in Chislehurst on Tuesday the 8th March. Is anyone else going? Does anyone know what The Beaverwood Club is like? I'm guessing it's not a seated venue. We were spoiled as the last time we saw Man was at the Stables in Milton Keynes. There was a time when I would push my way to the front & stand for the whole gig but with age & sciatica I now prefer a seat wherever possible.
