Someone's selling a photo of Deke on eBay:

Despite the mention of Cipollina in the description, I can't see him in the picture :)

(And the match word was.... Leonard!)

Just wanted to congratulate and thank everyone at Effigy and all the contributors for the superb God Walking Past DVD. I watched about an hour last night and it was great. Somehow appropriate that lots of the discussions about such joyous music were taking place bathed in glorious sunshine.

Deke's explanation of the seagull sounds on the Storm is worth the price the DVD itself - as was Clive's description of It is as it must be and of wanting to work with Micky as he was the greatest guitarist in the world ( never a truer word ), as was George's description of retro sounds, and Tweke's observations on the Romain riff. A wonderfully entertaining DVD.

Just dropping a note to say cheers to everyone who made it to the shows, we all had a great time and are looking forward to the summer festivals.

Phil has brought a breath of fresh air to the band, we are now looking to start work on the next record.

I recently spoke to Gibson about the Micky Jones S.G. and with all the competion there is, it is not looking likely at the moment.

So, with that in mind I decided to look elsewhere.  After all, Gibson may make the guitar, but it doesn't mean someone else couldn't.  Tony Iommi had his S.G. guitars replicated and sold by John Birch.

Upon visiting a local store in Swansea recently I saw an awesome relic'd Strat in the window.  The guitar had been painstakingly made to that of an actual 63 Strat, also showing all the signs of wear and tear that a guitar like that would endure.  Upon further inspection I discovered that the guitar was made by none other than Gary Lewis!

"Who the fuck is he", your probably saying?

Gary does all my guitar repair work on Dad's S.G. and Strat, he's the only one I trust to touch em...  So.. after seeing his work I called him and asked him if he would be interested in doing a run of Made To Order MICKY JONES SIGNATURE SG GUITARS.

He agreed.

So im left with this situation, we will now make a prototype guitar and then make the guitar avalible in a choice of finishes.

1.  The guitar will be avaliable in a similer condition to that of the 70's era, including hardware etc

2. The guitar will be relic'd and will be exactly as it is now.

More details will be published soon, their are lots of hours of research to be done on the instrument.

Money from the guitar will of course go to Dad and a portion to Gary the Luthier.  A donation from the guitar will also be made to the Brain Tumour Trust.

We will require some donations for the making prototype as this will help in the advertising of the instrument.

So many people have been asking how they could help Dad in some way, this would help immensely, there has been a lot of interest from fans about a signature guitar and Gary has promised that he will make a BETTER GUITAR THAN GIBSON.  If Gibson show interest through this, that would be a bonus.

Please, any ideas or comments please e-mail me.

Best Wishes,

George.

Display name was Jones....uncanny!!!

George... a new SG in the style of Mickey's cost about $3k at the shop in town. Add a Bigsby and signature, and it would be closer to $5k. Gibson's are not cheap. The 'aged ones" cost even more. Even then, if they made one, I'd buy one. The aged Fenders are also very expensive. If I buy a new guitar, I don't want one that is dinged up, and rusty. No, it had best be bright and shiny. I don't think I ever played Mick's so I don't know what the neck is like. How'd you describe it. Wide, narrow, fat? I have small hands, so I prefer a narrower fretboard and a flatter radius.

The homepage link is to a gallery of pix of most of the guitars here in the studio. My late model Mexi Strat and the old Rick Bass missed the photo shoot.
