How I have missed being defamed on an easy access bulletin board ! Special Brew, 1664 and Strongbow is a fearsome combination Alan. I would also like to nominate Dave for the "Most consistent but unsuccessful attempts to start a Mexican Wave at a Man gig award". It was a brilliant set. Just sent off for my copy of Aliens and looking forward to listening to it afer the rave reviews from Tony, Tim and Ron.

I agree wholeheartedly with Ron's comments on Malcolm Morley's Aliens. It's an excellent album with lots of hidden stuff. The bass in particular is very strong. Anyone spotted reviews or the CD in the 'racks'?

Great new layout Jules. Well done!!!

An idea for discussion. You are most probably aware that at certain holiday camps during the off season they hold rock and roll weekends, seventies weekends, etc featuring some well known and lesser well known bands.

How about a Man / Welsh Connection Weekend. Start on a friday night, feature an early Man lineup, play stuff from that era, saturday midday, Man offshoot groups, Saturday Night,
Man of BGTY and BITF time featuring those two incredible albums, Sunday lunchtime, More Man offshoots, Sunday Night, back to the current lineup and the current album in its wonderful entirity.
You could even have side features, Book signings, album signings, meet the band, etc.

ah, good to see Ron Sanchez has posted! And yes, he's right.  I just heard Malcolm Morley's new album (Aliens)last night.  It's nothing like you'd expect.
He wrote a note to say that Richard Treece's vocals on a track called Xfiles is rather like Joe Pesci on helium!  Actually, I think he sounds like Capt. Beefheart on helium, but hey, what do I know?  I'll find out from Malc where this album is being sold - think he might be doing it himself until he finds a suitable outlet in Europe and USA.
Cheers all

Paul, that's not far off some ideas that were being discussed for a Welsh Convention in 1999/2000. It didn't happen mind, but surely the time is ripe for another Convention?

One of the tentative plans was to take a weekend option on the Kings Hotel in Newport, and have a series of Man related concerts and showcases running through the weekend.

There was also talk of running several workshops, question and answer sessions, individual masterclasses. All this would be supported by side-stalls, covering merchandise, memorabilia, book signings, album signings, the works. You know, like a proper convention.

Another option was for Man to assume total control of Swansea for a weekend, running gigs at various venues around the town. There are plenty to choose from.

There could be room for hosting a "Manfan's Tour Of Swansea", taking in all the legendary local sights such as The Tenby, The Patti Pavillion, The Pant Y Gwyder, The Railmen's, The Langland Bay and so on. All fuelled by copious quantities of an appropriate local beverage of course.

man playing extra long set
man band members past and present play spunk rock for the final two hours.
