I've now got that down to 67.

Or the equivalent of 134 half-tracks, which would certainly make a mess of yer lawn.
Boldly going.......

...a mess of yer lawn.

That's easy! Elvis!

Woo Woo!

Annnnyway...I've decided to remove some instruments, I was getting befuddled. I needed to back track.

I hear on the grapevine that Nick Nation is still working on his contribution, but is running out of tracks for his epic production - how many is it up to now Nick?

It was 70, Mr P - but I've now got that down to 67. Obviously it is likely to increase....perhaps a sweepstake could be arranged?

Don't forget 'Sgt. Pepper' was recorded on 4-track and that sounded half decent...

...so if they'd done it on 8-track it would have been decent.

67 tracks? yer joking, right? I think the most we've ever needed was about 30... wouldn't want to mix all those bits... Got Ric "the one take fcc'r" banging out drums as we speak. Might get drums on eleven songs this weekend. Planned on 10, but we are way ahead of schedule. Drums on 8 tracks, and two of those are experimental mics, just to see if it adds anything...

Don't forget 'Sgt. Pepper' was recorded on 4-track and that sounded half decent...

First Yorkshireman:
Four tracks - we used to dream of having four tracks.  In my day it t'were direct to mono, and that were it.

Second Yorkshireman:
Mono - we used to dream of recording t'mono.  We recorded to an acetate disc, and if you made a cock-up you had to scrap t'disc, and you got a clip round t'ear from the producer.

Third Yorkshireman:
Acetate - we used to dream of recording t'acetate.  We only had wax cylinder, and that were second hand, we used to have to smooth over t'grooves with a candle.

Fourth Yorkshireman:
Wax cylinder  - we used to dream of recording on t'wax cylinder.  First recordings we made were grooves in t'plate while t'potter kept plate spinning.

All:
And you try and tell the young home recordists of today that ..... they won't believe you....

Understandable Mr Joules, after all I usually talk bolleaux.

67 tracks? yer joking, right?

In fact....no, Ron - it really is that many. At the moment. I did think about writing them down, but all that would prove was that I can write. Besides, most of you couldn't give a flying feck. Anyway, it's now down to 64 tracks thanks to a bit of pre-mixing - although many of these are stereo, so does that count as two? In which case it would be 92. Plus my 5 FX returns are routed individually back to the desk rather squished into an aux return - so that would make it 97. If it's good enough for Phil Spector, it's good enough for me.

We only had wax cylinder, and that were second hand, we used to have to smooth over t'grooves with a candle.

Ahh! Voicepants.

Ok Pop Pickers.....brace yourselves.

The countdown begins. My version of 'Call Down The Moon' has now safely arrived at Pritchard Towers. It's not a mash up or anything, it's exactly like the original. Cough.

To make sure you hear just how much like the original it is, as well as other MJ related ditties, I suggest you get a copy of Mr P's fabulous Micky Jones Tribute CD in due course.

...and if you think this is shameless plug, you ought to see the one in my bathroom.

The CD is now mastered and the artwork complete, so I will be sending off the package to the duplicators tomorrow. The anticipated release date is 10 March, which will be one year on from Micky's passing.

The method of distribution will be as per 'Crintabulated' , i.e. the CD is not a commercial release, and is free to friends, ideally with a donation to Micky's nominated causes.

The tracks are:
01. THE HEADSTONE POETS - Back Together Again (7:02)
02. ROSTOCK - Long Lost Friend (4:53)
03. DAVID SCOTT - Kerosene (7:24)
04. DONOVAN'S BRAIN - Violin Thing (4:30)
05. ELIGH TOADD - Angel Easy (5:25)
06. THE HEADSTONE POETS - C'mon (mon) (9:31)
07. THE QUAFFING LLAMAS - The Acidtone Variations (parts 1- 3) (8:20)
08. NICK NATION & FRIENDS - Call Down The Moon (5:41)

I'll be posting a link to a dedicated web page shortly.

I don't recall Micky doing "A Violin Thing". Eagerly awaited, Ron..

I'm disappointed you didn't ask me, the author of two chart-bothering CD titles, to name this one.  Clearly the title should have been perverse, and quoting from Deke Leonard is as perverse as it gets.

'From his 'book', Rhinos Winos and Lunatics, I give you (too late obviously) 'A Little Guitarist Is a Dangerous Thing'

Ah well

Obscure home demo. Figured it was  a safe plan.... nothing to compare it too.
