is there a way they can be merged so that in effect the whole concert is played continuously

You could load them into Moviemaker (import audio or music), merge the files and save with a new name to your computer. Might take a long time though.
I did it with two files in Nero format and saved them as a single .WMA file.
And if it goes wrong you still have the original files.

I've downloaded the files, and can play them individually, but I wonder, is there a way they can be merged so that in effect the whole concert is played continuously. Or can they only be played individually?

If you want to play them on your PC then there are many applications that can play a series of music files one after the other. The one I use is Foobar2000 (http://www.foobar2000.org, 2.7 Mb download). Out of the box it will play many music formats, including FLAC, but not SHN (but you can download an add-on for those).

You can save & load playlists, tell it to play all the files in a folder, etc It's also being actively developed.

Thanks....

If you are using Windows Media Player, add the files to your music library using 'add to library'. Then, go to the Library view, select all the tracks, right click & choose 'add to now playing'.

Funny you mention the ubiquitous (impressed huh?) Renfrew Ferry. I was at a posh dinner a couple of weeks ago, hosted by Astra Zeneca, a black tie jobby. Anyway, I was sat next to a chap from Stirling. He wore a black bow tie, but worryingly, also wore one of those skirts that you Scottish blokes wear.
So, I told him about my trip to the Renfrew Ferry. He was sympathetic and told me he would probably have done the same. I think he was humouring me as he has a brain the size of a planet (one of the big ones like Jupiter, not poxy little Mercury), so he wouldn't have done the same thing, but he made me feel better.
Now to get hold of my trowel and cement and get that wall higher and wider with barbed wire on the top......  :)

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. thanks again for your varied instructions on how to merge the files so that they can play concurrently, and therefore not having to get off my lazy *rs*.
For me to be able to do this, and I didn't know if it could be done in the first place, the explanation has to be quick, simple, and explained in a manner that could be unerstood by a gerbil.
So, I've done it. Incredible, but success. Without furher ado, the winner of simplest and easiest instructions to follow is........Mark Davies......I just dragged the files into Media Player, and hey ho here we go.....thank you Mr Davies.

I'm on a Mac, so iTunes is the easiest way to do the same. You just have to make sure your prefs are set to "no gap". Occasionally, one of these downloads opens up with just one long file.... or worse a WMA file. Flac is fine if your source is 16 bit audio. Once it's gone to MP3, there is no going back to full quality. For most bootlegs this is fine. I'm not sure why the preference for RAR compression. Zip works fine. I don't think there is actually a free RAR thing for Mac. I've not found one.

Not a preference on my part, it's just the tool I've got on my PC.  Does this mean you've not been able to open the other files?   If so, I will redo as .zip files (I've realised what i did that was different which made the first one a zip file!!)

Don't worry, it's not a problem to open any compressed file with StuffitExpander. I actually haven't had time, but I will planning to sort it out this evening. I spent the day applying for a job as a water meter reader! Pays well, and I wouldn't mind working for the city. I doubt I'd be considered, but it is necessary to get back in the saddle and apply myself!

I am using a Mac.

When I double clicked the zip or rar files, I got wav files for the various songs in each of the 5 downloads. No problem using iTunes or VLC media player.

Stuffit Expander opened the rar files.

So have you listen to this yet? Cippo does a nice bit on Hard Way To Die and Many Are Called. Did you notice on MACBFGU, Mick starts his solo using the talk box, but then thinks better of it, and gets down to business. The version two QMS tunes are also played very well. Too bad they decided to do the Storm in stead of C'mon. John was bummed they didn't play C'mon. This tape is is lacking Razorblades, isn't It? Good to have. I do have a cassette somewhere, but I hardly have time to dub stuff these days.
