well.. does it makes sense to post a review here?

Rusby

The opinion that Martin Ace has killed the Man band is mine, and while there are many others that agree with me, there are also lots who still follow the band, and it is them you would be writing a review for..

Irrespective of the views held about the current 'Man', this is the most recognised of Man Boards, and surely with deference to this, and most important, the efforts Martin Ace knows Jules has put into this Board, should Martin Ace be arranging for the updating this board?

Maybe Jules would understandably prefer to be silent on the matter, but I would be interested to know if there is any dialogue between Jules and the present 'Man'. If so, is that dialogue not for prying eyes on the Board?

Martin has little more respect for Manfans, than he does for the Jones family, the bands legacy or the spirit of the Manband and its extended family. Is it really any surprise he cant be arsed to keep the fans in touch with what he is doing???

I'm sure I'll get a barrage of hate posts in response to this, but like it or not thats the way it is.

I'm glad Josh has decided to concentrate on Ringolevio. Hopefully finally this will be the end of the prostitution of the Man name.

Gavin,

No barage of hate mails from me, I totally agree with your comments. However, I do feel that there is a support for this line-up within the manboard, and if they're happy with this charade, then let them get on with it, if that's what they want.

I'd love to see Ace kicked out, and a return to a Jones led Man, but it's for them to sort out. They know where we stand.

Meanwhile, let's wait for those reviews to come flooding in.. It's a week on now, and still nothing..

Like any bulletin board, the content here is provided by those people who have joined as members. No-one's obliged to post, and there are many who choose to simply observe rather than contribute. That's fine by me.

It's always great to hear opinions of gigs and releases, good, bad or indifferent. Over the years, many more shows have been played than have been reviewed. I'm pleased that MAN have put a brief run of shows together, albeit nowhere near where I could get to. Hopefully there'll be more shows later on that are more reachable. Anywhere in the UK would suit me. One observation I would make is that the set list seems pretty much the same as the last few shows, which implies that the songs being written and worked up aren't being showcased yet. I hope that moves on soon too.

I'm also hopeful that Josh and James achieve some success with Ringolevio. They deserve it. Shows being arranged at The Croft in Bristol (02/12) and The Dublin Castle, Camden Town 12/12 if you're in those areas at the right time.
Boldly going.......

...i'm at the least curious as to how this run of 4 shows back to back went ,and i wouldn't mind hearing some Phil solos on Bananas for one. and if i was there, since i rapped with Josh at the Micky tribute show and he was quite a nice dude(in fact he said if i was around for the day after the show that he would've been able to bring me some "smoke"; i hope he doesn't get into trouble with his Pop over this),i would ask him if i could sit in on Bananas(if you are reading this, peace Josh).everybody knows i'll play Bananas with anyone who'll have me.i'm easy that way.i couldn't bring myself to make an exception in this case...but i am really stuck in brooklyn this time.i can't even afford a haircut.i had to take in a roommate too.luckily it's Dougie and we had a good first practice for our gig tonight...i'm just curious as to how it went.i'm not trying to change fate(if there is such a thing)...now i hope you ruffians on the board aren't the reason the last show was cancelled...-peace-Davey

I'm really pleased there's some bridge building going on.

Josh is a good songwriter, James is a great guitarist and will be even better once the Nationsounds Heavies have hidden his wah wah pedal for ten minute bursts. There's just not enough PP3 batteries to go round.

Ringolevio are pretty good. It would be great if they kept in touch with us, or at least told us when and where they are playing....possibly they are wary of some sort of backlash due to them playing in the current version of Man. Understandable, but I think most, if not all, regular Manboard contributors would wish them well.

....he would've been able to bring me some "smoke"....

Hmmm, definitely no backlash here. Your 'papers' are in order....

I suggest y'all go to http://www.myspace.com/ringoleviomusic right now. Don't expect it to sound like Man, but then lots of things don't.

Errrm....do I qualify for a free haircut now? Oh.

That would be just as wrong imo, and probably not the best thing for George.   He now has an opportunity to stamp his own name and personality on his new project - if you like, to become his own man.   I think he'd honour Micky even more by doing that without the need for this to be under the banner of the Manband.   He can honour and remember his father without the need to wear his overcoat.

In any event, my money is on the current Manband never making another substantial foray into the UK.

In my opinion, George was brilliant with Man, really coming into his own,  bringing in some of the old catalogue, and importantly being true to the spirit of the band. I actually think he ran the band!  However, and I mentioned this to George (and Tracy I think), years ago at Hebden Bridge, I wondered at his age and with his talent, rather than playing with Man, should he not be forging his own career. I hoped he did not misunderstand me, cos I love the fella,  but I said then I'm not sure if playing with Man would do George any favours.

Whereas the demise of Martin Ace et al would be most welcome, I would certainly not like to see George back in a Man line up.

A proposed council tax-evaluation policy will mean reassessment of current house values which will mean they will charge us more if we live in a nice area. That ought to mean discounts for those of us who live in rough areas.

There is a huge house in our street. The extended family is run by a grumpy old woman with a pack of irritable dogs allowed to run without leads. Her car isn't taxed or insured and doesn't even have a number plate, but the police still do nothing. To the best of my knowledge, she has never worked. Her bad-tempered old man is notorious for racist comments. A shopkeeper blamed him for arranging the murder of his son and his son's girl-friend, but nothing has been proved.

All their kids have broken marriages except the youngest, who everyone thought was gay. Two grandsons are meant to be in the Army but are always out partying in nightclubs. It is not known if they have the same father. They are out of control.

I hate living near Windsor Castle .

Nick Nation,

Those seem perfectly treasonable comments..

Off/topik diversion #47.

Just listened to Bees Make Honey's Tequila Sunrise. How much input did our Malc have with this band. (much easier to ask here, than go upstairs and search out Mannerisms (wouldn't it be great to have an updated electronic version on the desktop?))

I think it was mainly in a playing, rather than a writing capacity - certainly BMH didn't remind me of HY particularly. I don't think Malc played every gig.

Yeah, but I don't think Broadband has got that far yet.

Ooops, sorry everybody. It doesn't take much. We return you now, happily back on topic, with threads relating to our favourite band's recent tour of Germany.
