What? No Ponty? ;)

Steve Hackett in Ponty is the other one.

Next year, however, I feel I may have a view by May.  Did I mention I'm going to the O2 to see...?

Yes Ronnie Lane's "Passing Show" era band playing Ronnies songs a few miles from his former farm / recording studio Fish Pool on the Shropshire / Wales border. Ronnie Lane's wife was in the front row of the audience singing along to every word.

Great stuff!  ;D

Missed the Green Ray at the Plough Xmas/Closing the Plough Extravaganza..

Me and Ashley just had a "jam" in the lounge, think we've mastered Savoy Browns "Street Corner Talking" now..

The two Micky gigs were very special for all the obvious reasons.  In addition:-

  • Paul McCartney at Hampden Park
  • Supergrass at the Barrowland in Glasgow on their farewell tour.  First time I'd seen them live and just made me feel a bit of a plonker for not having caught them sooner
  • Glenn Hughes at the ABC1 in Glasgow - great show of classic rock.  Voice still in fantastic shape
  • Elvis Costello And The Sugracanes at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow.   Guy does very little wrong in my view
  • The Skids in Dunfermline in March.  What might prove to be their last show but if it was it was a great way to go.
  • On a more personal level, there was the Peter Green Band at The Ferry.  Personal level being me getting to shake some maraccas during his closing number.  I've played with Peter Green!  How cool is that?

Honourable mentions for Cheap Trick,  Wishbone Ash, Nils Lofgren, John Otway, Midge Ure and the mighty Status Quo as well  I usually find it much easier to populate a list of best gigs than best albums these days

Found when I was out that a DVD of this gig has been issued - truly great stuff and a great souvenir of a terrific night

I've only been to four gigs this year... I'll try to put them in review order.

1 Cardiff 30 Apr - brilliant sound at a Hawkwind gig, like a stereo in the front room but sooo much louder!
2 Camden 17 Dec - Hawkwind loud and rather more grungy than recent years.
3 Leamington 2 May - Man and Hawkwind at the 'all-dayer' indoor festival - great piss-up.
4 Bristol 14 Dec - seeing Hawkwind for the first time in six months is good, and them kicking ass is better.
