Rob, rob,

How many times have I told you to be more careful with punctuation?
That should read "Message board's talker" ::)

Ah Rhubarb. An excellent topic and one we keep coming back to.
I was amazed to find a prominent display of this excellent vegetable (oh god please let it be a vegetable) in the European Garden in Adelaide. I guess it is good looking if you haven't been staring at a clump at the bottom of the garden for many years.

Returning to the main forum topic which we keep coming back to, I'm glad to finally find something to comment on. You will have heard of the Norwegian Doomsday Vault on Svalbard. Less known is that we also have a backup collection  of 24 Rhubarb cultivars hidden in the Norwegian mountains - so in an emergence you'll know where to search. The full list is being offered this year to members of the Norwegian Seed Savers and you can find the list of varieties currently maintained over here on page 14 of our Yearbook. ...and through public demand here's a  couple of pictures from, first, the National Rhubarb Collection at RHS Wisley (with over 100 varieties) and secondly the collection from Harlow Carr near Harrogate on the edge of the Rhubarb Triangle with a traditional forcing pot

....and yes Rover it is indeed a vegetable, it's just us in the west that have taken to piling loads of sugar over it. In its homelands in West Asia it is often used as an unsweetened vegetable. For example, Braised Iranian Style Pigeon with Rhubarb anyone?

One of the two great mistaken TV theme tunes - ask somebody the hum the theme tune to Mr Ben and 9 out 10 will hum Rhoobarb and Custard.

The other is The Little House On The Pararie - inevitably you'll get The Waltons.

De De Derrr, De De De Derrr.....

Hang on Rob - isn't that 'Smoke On The Water'?

Sexism in football...... bit of a Gray area that

Yeah, I noticed that their defence was that 'they didn't realise the microphone was on'. I seem to remember Ron Atkinson also 'didn't realise his microphone was on' when he made a racist comment a while ago. It's all coincidence that experienced commentators can't work an on/off switch.

I would like to say that all three are a bunch of thick anachronistic tossers, but in my defence I didn't realise I was typing at the time.

Linesman(!?) Sian Massey's new nickname is "just for men".  She was only used once and now the Gray has gone.
