Esoteric man CD/DVD package
« on: August 15, 2011, 06:26:13 PM »
Just received this fronn Vicky at Esoteric..
..e-nnailed her for a tracklist..

Quote
In October we also have several other large releases. One will be a great CD/DVD package of Man-Live at the Marquee from 1983, this also has tracks that were never released on any album as the album due at the time didnt actually come out but tracks were played for this date. I know Man have been one of our most consistent sellers, so dont think you will be disappointed with this.

..also nnentions the Quicksand release.

Sadly, no nnention of the Alkatraz CD..

...so presumably the 'tracks never released on album' are from the abandoned German recording?

And presumably the DVD is the whole of the Marquee concert, i.e. including footage of the tracks that were on the subsequent album and not the video?

See you haven't got your M fixed, Pete....
Nationsounds - the label that brought you Shake The Nation and raised £1,500 in memory of Micky...

..no. Currently using "Character Map" to copy M's, a bit of a pain. Good to be able to use "nn" here and people understand.. ;)

I must confess to looking forward to the release of the German tracks with a mixture of excitement (it would be great to have them after all these years) and trepidation (let's be honest, what's been heard so far isn't going to set the heart racing and represents the most un-Man like songs ever recorded)

Can't say I'm particularly looking forward to the release of the Marquee cd, but if I read it correctly, there's a dvd as well, then like Allan, also a hintof excitement as well, but I'll be more interested to see some crowd shots to see if I recognise anyone.

From the little bit of excerpts I've heard from the Quicksand album, definitely looking forward to that.

Not wishing to dash your hopes, but.... when I read that promo blurb my initial reaction was that it was talking about the songs that were recorded at the Marquee which should have appeared in studio form on the 'German album' i.e. What A Night, Even Visionaries Go Blind, Back Together Again, and Asylum.

Good news !
If the DVD contains the whole concert in video maybe we can have the songs Kerosene and Back into the future.
And maybe Spunk rock too
Spunk rock was played at Reading' 83 festival only two months after so it was maybe on the Marquee set-list too.
And in the CD we should have Even visionaries go blind, Back together again, Asylum, Hard way to live, Bananas and maybe Spunk rock.

Worth saying that I don't see anything that suggests there'll be anything more on the Marquee DVD than has already been available.    The reference to other tracks seems to be solely in relation to the German album

I am looking forward to this.   Finding out that the band were playing in Night Moves in Glasgow - I think it was the following Jan/Feb was actually a highlight of my life at the time.  I don't think I'd realised how much I missed them until I saw what I was sure was a poster for a Man gig hanging on a motorway pillar at Charing Cross in Glasgow.  I did actually jump off the bus to check that my eyes hadn't deceived me and to confirm the details.

The new songs did sound great in a live setting although when we finally got to hear the German stuff (initially via the What A Night/Last Birthday Party single which iirc was one of Michael's initial offerings when TWC started off) they were disappointing.

Having the full gig will be terrific - I was sold on the venture after the revved-up Spunk Rock followed by Deke's What A Night.  And my obsession has carried on quite happily ever since.

That is exactly how this concert kicks off!

I just listened to this in my studio, full blast!  I felt like I was in the Marquee!

Is your studio hot, sweaty and uncomfortable then :-)
