The "Live Adventures Of Man" box set is endorsed by the band.

So the appropriate royalties will reach Micky and Clint's estates? (apologies to legal experts here, not sure if 'estate' is the right word, but you know what I mean)

Nationsounds - the label that brought you Shake The Nation and raised £1,500 in memory of Micky...

So why didnt George know anything about it? I suppose Martin didnt feel it necessary to consult him, why I wonder wouldnt he want to do that?

Is it correct that the company releasing this is run by some former Voiceprint people? If so I think that answers all our questions!

I have no idea what the arrangements are for payment of royalties. That's something that should be referred to the companies involved.

So what then does endorsed by the band mean?
Endorsed by Martin and Phil?

I don't know, but possibly because George is no longer in the band. I suspect Ray, Jeff, Clive, Will, Terry, Tweke, Ken, Malcolm, John, John, Pugwash, Rick, Bob, Gareth, Deke and Micky weren't consulted either.

I don't know. Perhaps you could ask them?

I'm happy to share any relevant information I've got. Feel free to boycott the release if your principles are holding you back.

Endorsed by Martin and Phil?

Martin's aware that the box set is being prepared, Phil's been asked to provide some liner notes, so yes, as far as I know that sums it up.

As I'm sure you're aware George looks after Micky's interests as regards royalties and he has posted on here expressing concern over this. It is not in a legal or moral sense possible for the current band to sanction a release featuring previous line ups unless they actually play on the recording. Neither is it legal for them to pocket the royalties if thats whats happening.

My understanding is that legally more than half of the the people who appear on the recording have to agree to its release (or in the case of deceased members the beneficiary of the estate). And all that appear on it (or their beneficiaries) are entitled to a share of the royalties.

So I think what you've actually confirmed is that this release is NOT sanctioned and its legality is dubious.

Murky waters indeed!

Please be careful not to mis-quote me Gav. I do of course realise that what you've said here is what you "think" I've "confirmed", however what I've stated is that current members of the band are aware of the release, and have endorsed it.

Any further queries you have should be taken up with the publishers. Any questions regarding distribution of any royalties due should also be taken up with the publishers, by those people who feel they may be due a share of any royalties generated.

Don't hold your breath John ... my interesting and innovative mixture of a violent sneeze and a guffaw from the front row of Bindles, Barry Island during the live recording of Max Boyce's "The Incredible Plan" album made it onto the final mix ... but nary a sniff of royalties have I ever seen for it.

Indeed. Johnners is still waiting for his dues after audibly shouting for "Bananas" on  Maximum Darkness. Even with this being mentioned explicitly in Deke's notes on the back of the included poster, rewards came there none.

Is that not reward enough?

You'd think so wouldn't you, after all I don't complain about the unsanctioned appearance of my hat on the poster itself.
