AH's Glasgow
« on: October 12, 2011, 02:41:17 PM »
Allan, just giving you fair warning.

The pretend blonde which get's frizzy when it's wet, and the whole world has to pay for it, will be arriving in Glasgow in about 2 hours. She's the worst driver ever, fair enough never had an accident, but has seen hundreds.
I've told her about you. I related the story about that Ferry. I told her I have been on your shoulders at a gig.....once.

Stay in your house, I would.

Quite rightly, this thread was treated with the indifference it deserved, but AH (and others) may be pleased to know that no deaths or injuries were reported in Glasgow yesterday between the hours of 3pm and 5pm.

If we lived in biblical times, that would have been noted as a minor blummin' miracle.

 ;D

Couldn't respond as I've spent the past 24 hours hiding behind the sofa.

Glasgow looks remarkably the same as it did before.  If it can survive Mr Woolfe then that sets the bar pretty high for others.

Sorry, Bill. I didn't know you were in Glasgow as well. Have you ever heard of the Renfrew Ferry?

Heard and been there to see the boys play....twice ;D Also saw them in 1993 in King Tut's Wah Wah hut. What was the problem with them playing there? A good central location that was.(someone made a passing reference to this recently, but I can't remember which thread.

Yes. I live in Glasgow and have done since 1969. Previously lived in Coleford in the Forest of Dean, but went to school in Monmouth. Before that, as a wee boy I lived in York.
What's your story?

I wonder if I saw you at the Renfrew Ferry.....

"What's my story?"       Salford born and bred, recently moved just outside Bury. Been to Forest of Dean a few times when the RAC had a stage there, been to Monmouth on two occasions, visiting Rockfiels Studios. Encounter with Kingsley Ward, one of the highlights of my life.

Or do you mean story regarding the Renfrew Ferry? You know the map of Wales in BGTYALOAD, and there's those boys with poles or something moving England away from Wales. When I was on my way to the Ferry, your fellow Glaswegian, The Rt. Hon. Allan Heron, in a similar pose to those boys, you can picture it, was there with his big pole type thing (now, now be careful),  he moved the Ferry about 30 miles away from where it should have been.

It was much more simple than that, Rob.  You went to the Renfrew Ferry whilst the gig was in the Renfrew Ferry.  The distinction is pretty obvious, is it not?

Edited to add that the latter has now been named simply as The Ferry because of the large number of people who got lost.   Well, the one person who got lost  ;)

Nothing to do with Glasgow (I've been there 3 or 4 times - lovely experience when I too someone to A&E and there was a bloke there shouting that he had mental health issues and TB and would infect everyone -  I told him straight, 'keep your heron mate. The first bit is true)  but did you hear about the bloke who mixed up his viagra with tippex?  He woke up in the morning with a massive correction.

I thang you!

And another one.

An Englishman, an Irishman and a Scotsman walked int a bar.  The Welshman was still in New Zealand.

Just a touch of casual racism there.  Please feel free to make like a kidney and take the pi*s out of me if we lose on Saturday ;)

Pete, there's a sort of link via the A&E which was somewhere out by the Kelvin hall on one of them, and it didn't seem worth starting a new thread for the 'bar' joke.  Not so much a different planet, more a different country ;)

Martin, I think there may be a Welsh brotherhood thing going on here between us and the others.  Am intending getting a chicken Vindaloo tomorrow evening for consumption at half time on Saturday morning after a few Stellas.  It is a special occasion after all.

Sunday.  Not looking good for doing anything complicated or operating machinery!

Karma point?  That'll do nicely.  I'm sure it'll be cancelled out soon!
