Ex Micky Jones 1978 Fender Musicmaster bass guitar

Due to Financial difficulties, I am having to part with this, my American made 1978 Fender Musicmaster bass. The bass is very well loved, the eggshell paint all original with all the tell-tale dings and chips you would expect from a much played instrument.

The bass is basically a miniature Fender Precision, except with a 30" inch scale, single Strat-type pickup and single tone/volume control. Great for smaller statured bass players, for people looking for a bass with a more guitar-like feel & the ability to play chords, or someone who is simply looking to make a quirky new addition to their collection.

Without even considering how lovely it is to play guitar, the main reason it breaks my heart to have to part with it is that it has history. It belonged to Micky Jones, and as far as I know it has only passed through one other set of hands before mine, and those were George Jones'.

Due to upload restrictions on the forum, I have had to dump the pictures of the guitar on my Flickr account, here's the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/65114566@N05/

They don't do the guitar much justice, but they're ok for an indication of the condition. OH and I'm also including a link to a video of a very similar bass being played, just to give you an idea of the tone. The bass featured looks nigh-on identical to mine... apologies for the sound quality!

If you have any questions about the guitar, or would like to arrange a meeting to view/give it a try, feel free to message me. I have this advertised in other places, so don't hesitate to ask!

Regards,

Ben

Don't know what I'm more embarrassed by; that (a) I recognised it, or (b) it took all evening before I did.
Boldly going.......

Ha, yes Jules. For those of you that didn't recognise it, it was of course Barry Manillo. It's a sort of lonely pain that grips your weary soul and goes on and on and on.

Yeah - but you can claim some street cred back if you know

a) Manilow didn't write it
b) It was actually originally called Brandy.
c) It was a first a hit in the UK in 1971 for Scott English
d) Scott English co-wrote Hi Ho Silver Lining

Here's the Welsh Connection

e) Scott English co-wrote Bend Me Shape Me - a hit for Amen Corner in the 1960's

And here's the Man connection

f) Scott English also co write Ciao Baby, a song mentioned in "Maybe I Should Have Stayed In Bed" as it was played by one of Deke's many pre man groups (Corncrackers? - I need to check)

Six degrees of seperation - Barry Manilow to Deke Leonard?

Deke will probably never speak to me again

Is there any particular reason why you guys have turned the topic away from discussing the guitar to Barry Manilow of all people?! I'm sure there's a place on the forum that's probably better suited to such talk, but do as you please... only trying to pay the rent here!

The forum does that kind of thing.   It obviously appeals to our bass instincts  ::)
