Encore anyone?
« on: April 11, 2012, 10:47:53 PM »
Hi everyone. It's been pretty quiet on the board lately, so i felt a litle chat  would be good. This post should maybe be on the other bands thread as well, but , what the hell.

Has anyone heard "The Russian Wilds" by Howlin Rain ? It really is a diverse slice of Americana. It should appeal to many of us on the Manboard. It,s got pop. It's got folk. It,s got West Coast. But most of all, track 1,aptly called " Self Made Man", could be our favourite band, just back on stage for encore number four at The Padget Rooms in 1972. I kid you not. Hunt it down and enjoy.

Jason King Misplaced his trimmer maybe. But a bad day? Never.

Listened to "Self made Man" again between posts. Marvellous. See what you think all you Manband stalwarts.

I like it.
Very Micky-like solo that...and may well purcahse the album on that strength alone.

Hell yes! This sounds like a cracking album. Will put it on my wish list (and blatantly point it out to my son).

Nice to see Howling Rain get a mention.  The Russian Wilds LP is indeed well worth investing in but check out their Magnificient Fiend LP which I think is better and the icing on this particular cake is the Wild Life LP.  It contains 2x20 minute jams that put you firmly back into the heyday of Man and QMS; no mean feet.
If anyone is hankering over a modern equivilent to the 70's jamming bands that this site holds close to its heart then check out Norway's Motorpsycho.  To these ears very Man like.
