Partick Thistle v Everton..........
« on: June 26, 2012, 11:42:06 PM »
.... at Firhill as part of a four team tournament in July.

Unfortunately, I'll be in America at this time.   It's also stated as "Everton XI".   Not sure whether this is a suggestion of the level of the players or the number of goals they expect to score.   Possibly both  8)

We've played Everton in pre season matches a few times recently, probably the Neville connection. You'll be glad you are in America. Their fans are absolute filth.

Too late.  Take your smite like a man and return that tenner I wasted on buying a seat at Gigg Lane.  It's probably being used by a FC Manchester fan anyway; I hear there are more of them...  ;D

For Allan's benefit the First-team pre-season fixtures (Moyesy's Gang) are:

 Wednesday 18 July: Dundee United (A), 7.45pm
 Saturday 21 July: Motherwell (A), 3pm

Everton XI fixtures (Stubbsy's Gang) (i.e. the reserves.)

Saturday 21 July: Airdrie United (N), 2.45pm
Sunday 22 July: Celtic XI/Partick Thistle (N), TBC

Please explain the Celtic tie up. Is that the reason you are going to America?

It's one of these mini-tournaments so you'll be playing Cetlic and Thistle on the same day by the looks of it.

My present concern is the not unsympathetic rumblings from our boardroom about letting Sevco into the first division.   They've stepped back somewhat from that given the outcry, but there'll be no more season tickets for me if they do support this.   Sevco can apply to join SFL3 but if there are any other, more appealing applications then I'm with whoever it might be.

Edited to add - more coherent and accurate information at http://www.ptfc.co.uk/news/2012-2013/june_2012/firhill_to_host_pre-season_tournament

Sorry The Bard, you're right to be annoyed with me. If you'd have been at Gigg and seen the carnage left, you'd see what I mean. But yes, one honourable exception (and I'm sure plenty others too)

Match Report.  Everton reserves lost in the final of the ARR Craib Cup to an experienced Partick Thistle side on Sunday afternoon.
Alan Stubbs’ second string were playing their second game of the weekend having beaten Airdrie United on Saturday.
The hosts made the best possible start when Sean Welsh headed them into a lead on just two minutes.
It stayed that way until the turnaround but again the Blues had a shocking start as Welsh made it 2-0 within minutes of the second half commencing.
Conor McAleny pulled one back for the visitors but Stuart Banningan restored Thistle’s lead.
The Firhill club had the ball in the net three more times but all were chalked off for offside.
Ross Barkley’s deflected shot was the closest the Blues came to reducing the deficit.

Fair play.  No hard feelings.  Surprised that Barkley was playing; If he's not with the fitrst team squad he may be on the way out.
Do you play (St)Rangers this year or next year?  :P

Two years at least until PT play Sevco. Even longer would be better!

At the risk of offending the Bard of The Board (did you know Shakespeare walked into his local one night, and the landlord shouted at him, 'Oi, you're barred'), I hope you didn't have world war 3 before, during and after the match. Broken seats, toilets and stuff cost us a fortune.

I gotta funny kind of feeling..... you don't like us no more (to be sung in a Deke Leonard Slow Motion kind of a way).

Hope not Bard. Mind you, Roch Fail say the same thing about us when we've been there    ;D

Virgin places don't mean a thing to people who never bring their hearts along.
