you should try Iceland in summer ... almost solid airborne biting meat ...

That's why I go to Safebury's.

Speaking of the Olympics (weren't we?) ... Synchronised swimming! ... wassat all about? ... OK so I kind of get the shenanagins once in the water ... but what on earth is all that bizarre and downright scary face-pulling and 'vogueing' performance on the side of the pool all about? ... before they dive in the water ...

I can't get my head round the cycle pursuit race where the 2 cyclists crawl round playing that cat and mouse thing, staring each other out. Just boot it from the start. That'll surprise the other fella no end.  :)

I thought the closing ceremony was a terrible disappointment and a huge missed opportunity. Russel Brand on top of a bus and missiles only half a mile away...  >:(

It's about not using up too much energy and trying to force your opponent to use his. They stay behind so they can get into the draft of your opponent. That way when you go flat out you have more in reserve and can usually overtake to win as your opponent (the guy in front) has used all his energy!

Doesn't always work as you have to get it just right. If you go flat out from the start then the guy behing can just save it and catch up toward the end. Highly tacticle.

And do cyclists employ tactics to stop people getting into their draft.  Like a good curry the night before  ::)

That would count as wind assistance and would result in disqualification. Or quite possibly a follow through.

And can I just say..... Crystal Gayle? I can probably think of many reasons why not, though.

Back to the topic in question, overall I thoroughly enjoyed the olympics. Not the mens football, nor the tennis, neither should have been in the olympics in their current format. Or beach volleyball, may as well have sandcastle making, and making horses do morris dancing is an insult to horses and probably is cruel. But everything else typified what the olympics should be. Oh forgot, boxing is bad enough, but female boxing?? No way!
