Did anyone go along to see Deke play at Singleton Park over the Bank Hol? Cannot see any mention

I fancied it, but the mighty Quo as headliners put me off. :(

Yes I did. The sound was pretty poor and they played for about 50 minutes. The set contained The ride and the View, Map of India, 7171-551, Circumstances and a very good Baby Please Dont Go courtesy of Brian Breeze. They might get away with not rehearsing in a crowded club in Neath but less so in a park with overcast skies and a fairly brisk breeze (excuse the pun)!
The sound was a load better for Status Quo but they didnt play 45 hundred times and Rick Parfitt has cut his hair so I didn't recognise him at first.

Loved the F*book post of Ride.  Clearly, being there gives a better perspective and it'd be a shame if the reputation of such a wonderful guitarist / band drops off due to lack of rehearsals.

Mmm.  Haven't we been here before...?

Let's hope it was due to 'circumstances beyond their control', always a tricky factor at a festival, rather than a lack of application from the band. I see the final day was cancelled due to the weather conditions.

But Leonard wrote "Circumstances" so surely it was entirely within his control? ;)

PS is the "Simmons", credited as co-writer of "Circumstances", Paul Simmons - drummer of "The Force"?

Thought Deke was in fine voice and some very authentic Iceberg lead guitar (what little was available!).
Actually was Deke or Brian lead guitarist? I meant Brian (no disrespect to Deke).

Not being up on Fb, could you provide a link? Is it publically viewable or do I have to be someone's friend, in which case it could be a while before I see it...

I right clicked and it worked - not sure if it would without an FBook account.

I saw it.

I've seen and heard some blistering versions of 'Ride' over the years (Star Club anyone?). Unfortunately, this wasn't one of them.

So, Mr N.  What you think?

I thought 'RATV' was absolutely wonderful when it smouldered, grooved, cruised and prowled. There was a tension in the air. (Sounds like I've added extra lyrics....)

This version has the intro that I can't abide so for me it's already started on the wrong foot. Breezy, an otherwise fabulous guitarist, then totally looses the moment during his solo. Rhythmically it's hacked at.

Shame we can't hear more of Will, whether this is because he's low in the mix or the camera mic doesn't pick it up or both I don't know. My next door neighbour's dog tells me he's doing some groovy bass lines, but only he can hear them.

I've waffled in the past that when Man played an Iceberg track, it didn't sound as good to me. Well....I think this shows there is a balance to these things.
