Another piece of Cardiff gone to the wall
« on: September 05, 2008, 03:27:10 PM »
The Vulcan is being swallowed up by a fecking shopping centre.
I used to love having a pint of Dark in there when I was supposed to be in town to go to the library or before going to The Revolution... happy days.
Now it's going the way of The Craddock, The New Sea Lock etc.
My old stomping grounds are shrinking.

Went for a visit to Bury's only brewery last week.
Thought I'd mention it just so that I could have my name in all of the recent posts at the same time.  ;D

Outstanding & Leyden breweries are both in Bury, from what I see. Not been to either, but we do have some beers from Outstanding at Huddersfield Beer Festival this weekend. I'm sure the rest of the beers will be 'outstanding' too  ;D

The Leyden Brewery (also not too far away from me) is officially in Nangreaves but at a stretch I concur.  :-[ 'Hic!'

Martin, I've had it on good authority, it's in staggering distance from you, as long as you remember to put one foot in front of the other.....

It's my mate from Canada's favourite pub when he's over. It's a bit of a slog up the cobbled hill but there is usually at least three beers on and halfway back down the hill there is a pretty good Bangladeshi restaurant on the top floor of another pub.

Been to the Lord Raglan many times. And Martin, how can you mention Leyden Brewery without mentioning the only bottled beer I buy, Forever Bury (% of profits to the Shakers :) )
A great micro bewery not a million miles away is the Pennine  brewey in Haslingden. Go on a Thursday when it's brewing day - fabulous!

Seems one or two other people will be sad to see the back of the Vulcan;

Not too sure about this idea though;
