I know the match, I was there. Shakers away at Fulham mid 80's I think, midweek night match, FA Cup replay, had drawn at Gigg, and drew 0-0 in the replay. Went to extra time, so match finished dead late, got wrong tube back to this London bird I knew, eventually got to hers, then you know what, then drove back home. Thick fog on m'way, got home about 7.30am and had to be in office half an hour later. Character building or what? Great, great days.

Which begs the question....is one more likely to score above or below the Watford Gap???

Fulham:  Always a welcoming ground for away supporters (they are let in to provide some atmosphere).  It's like visiting the poor relations; they've got some antiques wooden seats left that are much cherished, if a bit ropey, but sold off the remainder along with their clock.  However things are looking up - this season they have bought a couple of 46 inch tellys to show match highlights and they have a model of Michael Jackson, given to them by a rich uncle, which they keep by the back door.  But the most annoying thing about them is Diddy David Hamilton, who they trot out each match to do a shift as stadium announcer (actually, if it wasn't for him I'd quite like them - a friendly little club with an old style stadium and lots of history.)   8)

Not a bad little shout there from The Bard. Those old wooden seats... I remember at the match, I sat in a wing stand next to the cottage thing in that corner, in an old (even for then) rickety wooden seat. Quaint!
They have some sort of famous fans haven't they? Tommy Trinder, Budgie (Adam Faith's character in that programme) and Arfur Daley's Minder. And that git, David Mellor. Used to be a Fulham but changed to Chelsea. Changing teams should be a capital offence punished with death by stoning.

Looked it up, and that cup match was 3rd Round in Jan 1981. Didn't realise it was that early. Malcolm Macdonald Fulham manager then. Div3, we were Div 4. We are still cr*p, Fulham have come on a bit.

So, errr, what was the match of my life? Got a funny kind of feeling (could be a song lyric, that) it won't have been the 0-0 draw with Bury. Oh well...

Talking of footy, I bet AH is sweating a bit. What's more important. Games in hand or points?

And still talking of footy, doing my first away match of the seasonthis coming Saturday. MK Don(ald)s away. Now they're hated by many due to, some sayn stealing Wimbledon F.C. I see it differently. When they were going under, the population of W'don weren't interested, neither was the local council. MK's actions regalvanised the club. They should be grateful to MK Dons. IMO anyway :)

I now understand the Barnsley connection.

Disappointed if they appoint Butcher, because the scumbag known as Kevin Blackwell is/was a favourite for that job. He manages Bury and in a few weeks has alienated half the players and half the fans.

And before Messrs Heron, Tuck, Bardsley, and M say it, I know half the fans only leaves 24 left

:)

I went to see Bob Richards and his DP tribute band a few months back, in Barnsley.

I saw Jimmy Hill at a Cardiff Fulham game.

And how we jeered Michael Parkinson at Wembley when we turfed Barnsley out of the FA Cup a few seasons back.
