A Season Of Donovan's Brain

I've probably hinted at a new album... The first release from those sessions is out now, Skrang The Sound Of Bobby Sutliff. As you might have heard, our Bobby was in a nasty car crash this summer. Tim Lee from the Windbreakers organized a benefit albums... chock full of great performers. We did one of Bob's songs in the style of Rain Parade. Deniz Tek does some wonderful guitar on that.

Next month, a tribute the The Records is meant to be released. Again, a load of names are on it. This is one Bobby produced. We got Stars In Her Eyes, which we do in the style of Rockpile. Why not?

The new Donovan's Brain album is out in March. CD and Vinyl. It's called Turned Up Later. We had finished most of the work on it before Bob's accident. New boys Scott Sutherland and Tony Miller helped do the finish work. The whole thing is powered by the drums of Ric Parnell, son of the famous Jack Parnell. We also have Matt Piucci from Rain Parade guesting on guitars.

The CD is 12 songs, edited tight so it all flows together. For the 3 sided double vinyl, you get 13 songs. Several are longer than the cd edits and two are substantially different takes. We think it's pretty good. Psych, rock, some jangle and lots of guitar.

I'm headed down to Atlanta this week for the Bobby Sutliff Benefit gig. The reformed Rain Parade are playing... do you see a thread here?

Out now... some great music here. The Matt Piucci is the Rain Parade, the band I saw last weekend in Atlanta. The Brain track is big slabs of guitar. All proceeds go to Bobby Sutliff, who was laid low by a nasty car crash. He is back on his feet now, and played with Rain Parade and Tim Lee at the gig. Still has some memory problems... couldn't remember the name of Ten Years After.. "that band that played at Woodstock".

The limited edition Benefit Album Skrang Sounds Like Bobby Sutliff is now available. 18 brilliant covers of the songs of Bobby Sutliff.

You can purchase it from Career Records, Paisley Pop or Tim Lee.
Don't wait, don't hesitate or it'll be gone.
This link will take you right there...

A little vid for the new album. This is the longer vinyl version of Bobby's song Take Me With You When You Go.

Donovan's Brain on vinyl... three sides of fun. Good enough for Johnny Winter, good enough for us. One more song than the cd plus some longer mixes and other variations. The CD comes in the package... deal?
