Alan, It's quite a while ago since that visit - mid 80s perhaps but I definitely stayed in a B&B just around the corner from Byers road. Is there something like a cemetery or a park with railings around it nearby on a 'Main Rd'?
The bridge was probably a short walk away. I recall me and my mate went into an Italian restaurant on or near the bridge, which was full, hence the burger / kebab / whatever on the aforementioned bridge. We ended up in some pub with all the walls painted matt black so I guess it was a music pub of sorts.
The reason I remember Byers road is that one of the girls working in the office on Argyll St near the railway station (which last time I was up there had since been converted to a Wetherspoons) told us about the lovely studenty place that was Byers Rd near our B&B. Maybe things are getting blurred around street names after all this time. But I can definitely start a story about my visits to Glasgow with 'I was in this seedy pub...'
