If you can ever get to see Riverside, do! I saw them at their first ever gig in this country at Lydney Town Hall (Where they hold The Summers End Festival) and they were brilliant and I saw them also at The Robin 2 with the truly sublime band that are The Pineapple Thief  :)

Fear not! There's a group of about eight of us in sleepy Dorset eagerly awaiting the next tour. All are willing to travel to the 'big smoke' if necessary...maybe even overseas! I should listen to some more Pineapple Thief I think. Have got 'All The Wars' and 'Variations on A Dream' so far. What should I sample next? Which album is their best would you say?

A seamless link to an irrelevant seven day old post.  Well done that man ;)

But. Can I say that? No man is an Island :D

Haven't heard the Cosmograf album - will check out to see if it's on Spotify.

Gave this a listen today.  Quite enjoyed it although it was one of these albums where you ticked off the band's they sounded like as you progressed through the tracks.  Some good and quite literal space rock though.

Yes there are very few offerings which can boast total originality...with Genesis and Floyd generally being the most obvious sources. Some though, Big Big Train, Riverside, Sanguine Hum amongst them...are also making their own distinctive mark. There's so much going on in this genre at present it's pretty overwhelming. The Flower Kings are going to have to be checked out I think...and this one also sounds very interesting...  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dimensionaut .  The reviews are certainly very positive, and an interesting family connection too!

Alright a more relevant quote than my previous Jamie Oliver one from the man himself.

'I've got used to signing autographs for 13 year old Kayleighs.'

Last one - if anyone has read Espedair Street by Iain M Banks did they picture the main character as Fish?

A positive experience? The book isn't one of his best but is very entertaining and features a Scottish rock singer as the main character as far as I can recall.

It's almost as if I willed it! New Riverside dates just announced next April...in London, Bristol, Woverhampton (Robin 2), Edinburgh...and Manchester. Rob can go along to the latter and hurl abuse.

Nah - it's just a plain backstreet in Paisley.

Cool - thanks for the link Allan. I can now picture it far better. This may be an idea for us to take up - links to rock related highways and byeways. I think it is time for an image of Scotch Corner. Reckon the link below will show some relevant pics from around the Man song of the same name. Don't know what inspired the song but is one of my favourites.
