Just wondered if it would be feasible to reverse the order of responses in particular threads so that the most recent appeared at the top...or am I being technically inept and failing to apply a change I can make quite easily myself?

Case in Point - the current Crintabulated chat. In order to read the latest item you have to select the subject and then click again on the latest Page number...and then scroll down.

It seems to be set back to front
Assuming you are reading this on Recent Posts, click "Profile" in the line under your Avatar
Then hover over "Modify profile" and a drop down menu appears - pick "look and layout"
Change whatever setting you have under "Show most recent posts at the top"+ click "change profile" - bottom RH corner
When "most recent posts at the top" is selected, I get the old posts first, and when it is de-selected I get the new posts on the top
I'm on Windows 7 and Internet Explorer other browsers may give different results

Mine is set to show most recent posts first.

If Arj's hint doesn't work, post something and I'll check my settings for you.

Arjayay's handy hint there does describe the way it's supposed to work. When selected, the "show most recent posts first" profile option should sort them in descending chronological order. Works for me.

My personal preference is to use the technique Rob suggests, i.e. click the "new" icon and then read down from there. Reading top to bottom just feels more natural to me.
