Yes Mike it is the season for turkey stuffing. Their strike force is rather poultry to say the least. They should do better when Andy Cammell is free ranging again.

Talking of strikers and animals of one sort or another, our strike force (sic), couldn't hit the proverbial cow's a*se with the even more proverbial banjo.

(Can anyone explain the origin of that saying? I mean, why would anyone want to hit a cow's a*se with any musical instrument, let alone a banjo?

Fill your boots with a banjo?

http://english.stackexchange.com/questions/3100/what-is-the-origin-of-couldnt-hit-a-cows-arse-with-a-banjo

Cheers, Baz.

So, a banjo is in fact a shovel? Not a musical instrument?

I bet nobody knew that.

Apart from smart ar*es who deserve to be walloped on their ar*e with a shovel/banjo/whatever   ;D

I've noticed a prog on Sky something which has Ashleigh Banjo in the title.  I took it to be a porno prog, but porn with animals?  Siock.

Stick to sheep. You can't better the real thing. 8)

In the unlikely event anybody gives a damn, this coming Friday, 7 March, you can watch on Sky TV, Bury v R'dale. It has been brought forward from Sat 8 March, no doubt to celebrate my birthday, which this year (and funnily enough, every other year since 1958), is on 7 March.
Yes, I know what we all think of Sky, but on this occasion, go on, you know you want to.    :)

Robat,

have a damn fine birthday on the 7th.

I have to say you look marginally youger in the flesh than your birthday suggests.
Apologies for what may be taken as a compliment. Normal service will be resumed shortly.

Is Rochdale also in greater Bury?

Michael, if it's a compliment, even to be followed by an insult (again), I'll take it.

Rochdale, as the Cemetery End Massive sing, is  "just a small town in Heywood". Technically therefore is in Greater Bury. Heywood is a few houses, a disused church, and loads of chav's, located between Bury and Rochdale. They hate us like we hate B*lt*n. We don't give a f*ck about Rochdale, like B*lt*n don't give a f*ck about us (but we know they do).

PS only Cerys is allowed to call me Robert, or more to the point, Robat.

:)

So, you and Cerys on first name terms now then?  Did you buy her daffs for St Davids day?

Here's a question - no googling or similar, please - what nationality was St David?

I seem to remember a pub quiz with this one
St David was the only British Isles, Patron saint, born in the country that adopted him as their patron saint
St George (if he existed (cue small riot)) and St Andrew were both born in Palestine (cue another riot)
St Patrick was born in England but was kidnapped and taken to Ireland as a slave

 Arjayay, correct :)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_David If anyone is interested enough.  I hadn't spotted the Llandewi Brefi link before!

I think St Patrick was also credited with having chased all the snakes out of Ireland.
