So the ones currently running the country must be related to some other reptilian life form....
One for you Mike chap...do you know the connection between Clydach and the Waterford parish of Tooraneena?

..there was a dispute over who owned Rathlin Island (google it if you don;t know), Ireland or Scotland? As it doesn't have any snakes it was deemed to be Irish as St Patrick drove all the snakes out of Ireland..

Good logic!..

None in the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands either. I think settling border conflicts/disputes based on mediaeval  reptile population trends is an excellent idea, and on that basis declare myself King of Anglesea.
How ironic would it be if Man never played the island named after 'em...

No snakes in my house. I'm thinking of declaring it an Irish Embassy.
Boldly going.......

Just thought I'd re-visit the opening post.

What on earth have the Irish embassy, and an Indian consul (whatever that is), have to do with Partick Thistle winning a football match?

:)

Could it be something to do with the classic car Ford Consul - to add to the Morris Oxford prevalent in India.

Rockprof.  Not a clue.  I googled it (and would have admitted that if I got any info :)) but there was nothing that helped.

So, I give up. What is the connection?

Tooraneena poet Padraig O'Milleagh apparently spent a few years there at the end of the 19th century, being much impressed by the place by all accounts...which either says a lot for Clydach or very little about Tooraneena.... :)

Depite some views to the contrary, I wasn't living here in the 19th century, so i don't know what it was like then.  Probably had more pubs open than there are now :).

I'll look up Padraig O'Milleagh to see what sort of bloke he appears to be.  He may well be still sitting in the corner of a bar in the Mond club amongst those of a similar age.  I am regarded as a mere child there as I am still (just) in my 50's.

So then, our Baz. Tuesday night. Torquay v Shakers. Massive. And we've got half our squad injured and no forwards. Think you need the victory more than us, but it's close down here.
Just speaking with Ms Rob, and if it was a Sat match, we'd have made the weekend of it. Hope you go. Report from the other side will be most welcome. I'm going for 1-0  Shakers. Just changed it from 2-1.

And a massive shout out to those Patrick Thistle boys.

I know Rob massive. Clutching at straws and last week's win was the only bright spark recently. Our best midfielder may be banned for five games for biting someone and a mixture of fast revolving loan players and youngsters are struggling. If we put some wins together we could relegate Exter which would be sweet but highly unlikely. Planning to go on Tuesday.
