Walter Trout
« on: March 22, 2014, 11:18:45 AM »
Many of you will be familiar with Walter Trout.  I'd heard that he was having a tough time but it now seems to be extremely tough according to this message posted on Dime.

From Walter's wife, Marie:
My heart is breaking to make this posting. We have waited a bit to make sure - but Walter's team of doctors have confirmed the diagnosis: Walter's condition has worsened - he is now in full-fledged liver failure. If he does not get a new liver within the next few months
- he will not make it. I have just reached out to all our cooperation partners and cancelled all Walter's touring for 2014. He will not be allowed to travel for the next six months minimum and he will need lots of recovery time post-surgery. Walter is very, very ill currently and at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles where teams of the best surgeons and liver specialists are taking care of his survival until they can secure a high quality liver for him. I know that some of you have reached out previously with a desire to help Walter. A dear friend of ours, Kirby, has set up a donation account to help with the huge medical expenses. I can also update you on the details regarding Walter's condition, and overall treatment from this account. Walter and I so appreciate all of your support - your love and your prayers for Walter at this difficult time. Thanks, Dave. Walter looked really ill when he and his band played what was of necessity a shortened set at The Garage in Swansea late last year. Looking at the fundraising link, the target has been reached but it all now depends on a donor with a viable liver turning up. It worked for David Crosby, so I hope the same fortune will favour Walter.

News of a benefit gig from Pete Feenstra:

The international Rock blues community comes together on Sunday 4th May to present a special benefit show in London for the blues-rock legend Walter Trout who is awaiting a liver transplant.

This special show features Roger Chapman, Otis Grand, Bernie Marsden, Ian Parker, Kim Simmons, Danny Bryant, Stevie Smith, Marcus Malone, Mitch Laddie, Lawrence Jones, and others to be announced along with The Flamingo Club All Stars House band featuring John O’Leary and Alan Glenn. Proceeds will go to towards the ailing icon’s emergency liver transplant fund and his subsequent recuperation.

The goal of the evening is to pull together some great blues-rock musicians to help raise money and awareness of Walter Trout’s current predicament. This year marked the 25th anniversary of his solo career, but he is currently fighting for his life. It is hoped that the event at Shepherds Bush will be well supported by musicians and fans alike as everyone in the music community come together to show their love for Walter and to help raise monies for himself and his Family.

Walter Trout recently confirmed the release of his new CD entitled “The Blues Came Callin’” which will be launched as planned on June 2 despite his continuing health issues.

AN EVENING FOR WALTER TROUT – takes place on SUNDAY 4th MAY at the 02 SHEPHERDS BUSH EMPIRE, Shepherds Bush Green, London W12 8TT
Doors 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start. Tickets £17.50 advance / £20.00 on the door
Box Office 0844 477 20 00 (24 hours)

Regards,
Pete Feenstra
