Rail prog on TV tonight
« on: February 28, 2010, 11:59:07 PM »
Apparently, there's a programme on Beeb 2 tonight, 10.25 about British railway journeys. Tonight it's about Manchester to Bury. So if any of you fine people would like to be  educated, ignore whatever it says about M/cr, just take note of the Bury bit.

It probably won't mention our anthem, but whilst watching, feel free to join in. Goes to the tune of the red flag flying high song.

We are the Bury rambling club
We ramble round from pub to pub
To die of thirst we never fear
All we need is a pint of beer
So raise your glasses to the sky
Flick the froth in the landlord's eye.
We are the Bury Rambling club
We ramble round from pub to pub to pub to pub to pub to pub....

Or maybe not...................

It's been an ongoing series (good!) with Michael Portaloo (ohh.....)

The Manchester-Bury Rail line attracted my attention some time ago as it became part of Manchester's Tram Network, the first 'second generation' tram system in the UK. I spent quite a bit of time filming the line before and after conversion, so perhaps I inadvertantly got Rob in some of my shots!

Class 504s - now that's heavy metal.

Rail prog!  Does that means it's a really long journey with lots of twists and turns on the way?

Blinkin' ' Eck, I know we have a bird spotter on this forum (where are you oakers, come back matey), now we've got a blummin' train spotter!! There goes my street cred.

And no, there's nothing abnormal about collecting little plastic subbuteo players and repainting them in different colours.

That phrase aptly describes the upholstery in the days when Manchester - Bury had real trains running on it.
Many's the time I caught them to visit my lasses in Radcliffe...

Why waste valuable drinking time by moving to another pub?

One for you train lovers out there.

 :o

Two things come to mind - the famous Northampton Hospital Family Planning Clinic sign (Use rear entrance)

and

Rodney Marsh - the getting pulled off at half time quip (at QPR we only got an orange)
