Haven't visited for many years. Glad to see the merry men of MAN still at it.

Thanks for the kind welcome back. I'm amazed (and not surprized at the same time ;) that you are still GIVING us all this labour of your love...i.e. this wonderful creation THE MANBAND ARCHIVE...or something like that.

Okay, not only at the risk of being obnoxious, I've already crossed the line...as I was typing my last welcome back to me post, "Drivin' Around" somehow started playing randomly in the thousand plus shuffle of songs I could hear and I have to say that I worship any song that Mickey Jones mentions his own name in like a blues singer.

Hello Mochat.

With your mention of Gong. In the 'Other Bands' section, they had a thread to their own a short while back.

Cracking gig late last year. I would have nominated them in my top six gigs of 2015 as per Oakers annual poll. But since I probably only attended say 6 or so gigs in the whole year, I thought not quite fair really.

Welcome back. Don't be a stranger  ;)

Only (always) come here stumblin' drunk. My apologies. Been Years of listening and feeling like a lost cousin (across the ocean here in California) for Man. Looking for humour..maybe. I found it here many times before by all you graceful passengers of the Great Ship of Man. I recommend a song I heard tonite called "Dream Away" from Call Down The Moon for what ever reason the Universe may have.

I think close to the top of my favourite Man songs, is "Last Birthday Party"  from Rare Man. Wishing I was invited to Mickey's last.

"Gonna have a party invite all my friends, I keep on smiling right up to the end. No need to worry got nothing to lose, I need to hurry got so much to do."

"I'll have a floorshow, girl and a cake..."
"I'll drink like a Wino, all I can take"

"For entertainment my Russian roullette
"Who'll be the winner you place your bet
"If you're girlriend is being a whore

You can go stay with your favorite whore.

"It's my last Birthday party"

(Love this Jerry Garcia tribute fill)

"It's pretty hard, trying to squeeze..
""The rest of your life into 12 short weeks

"I climb Everest today at noon
"Now I'm booked for a trip to the moon

"Only one way to celebrate
"Gonna have a party til' the mining state(?)

It's my last Birthday Party

and imagine trying to transcribe the restof the lyrics after 9 beers.

The only song that makes sense after this is Deke Leonard's "Perfect Strangers" and then probably "Someone is Calling"  and then Rock and Roll You Out from "Slow Motion"

but then I always loved "I Just Can't Win"  from Iceberg on the way to "Lisa".

Goo on ya, Mochat. I think one should always post here stumblin' drunk - things come direct from the heart and soul in that condition.

Virgin places don't mean a thing to people who never bring their hearts along.

Almost on topic - is anyone else a fan of Ben Sidran, who was briefly Steve Miller's keyboard man but for many years has been a fine jazz piano and hammond artist? Also I believe a long-running US jazz radio host. Every now and then I come back to him and find he's released another trio of great albums.
