And mine.

Spookily enough, I've just been watching them again for the first time in yonks....a great show that stands the test of time.

Nationsounds - the label that brought you Shake The Nation and raised £1,500 in memory of Micky...

The prisoner was my all time favorite tv programme.

Ditto.

Sad to see the prisoner escape, but grateful it was quick. Like Nick I watched the whole series again just recently. Marvellous, bordering on the hysterical stuff. Particularly enjoyed Derren Nesbit's cameo performance as a real-life Alan Tracey!

Watch out for the bubbles now.

Boldly going.......

I can only join in.  The word iconic was designed for series like The Prisoner.  And don't forget his contrbutions to Braveheart and Ice Station Zebra.

My favourite:  Hammer or Anvil, where he did for Leo McKearn before his Rumpole days.

Incidently, back in 1970 I was invited never to return to Portmerion again after an argument about having to pay to visit the Hotel grounds.  Should have worn me blazer...

The Bard,

I thought you were going to post something along the lines of ' there's only one number six - Colin Harvey'

I'll take my coat to the pub now...cheerio

For some reason I never got to watch The Prisoner first time around. Absolutely no idea why that happened; maybe it was on at the wrong time or something. However if we're talking films then it has to be Hell Drivers (1957) with the aforementioned Mr McG in a truly menacing lead role, plus a very young pre-Man From Uncle David McCallum and a pre-James Bond Sean Connery.

I've never got around to seeing The Prisoner. Given that any celeb death is bound to bring on a round of deluxe DVD sets, has it worn well or would someone too young to see it at the time (admittedly I do have a taste for such things as I have heard it described) wonder what all the fuss was about all these years on?

...has it worn well....?

Yep.

Promise? The last bit of vintage cult telly I tried was "The Family" fly-on-the-wall doc that turned out to reveal an appalling gobshite fat bird that would simply shout louder than her kids or husband and thus be considered a "matriarach"?

Me neither. I think I was probably in bed asleep.

Ah yes. Nearly all the driving scenes were under-cranked to give the impression that 10 ton lorries doing 40 mph seemed like Le Mans.

The reason most of us on this site listen to music these days, don't miss a single programme on the TV, absolute crap mostly. Except for the odd comedy show or natural history programme, there's nothing else.
So begs the question. Why do we have to pay for a TV Licence.....I'm seriously thinking of not paying anymore.....

Yep.

If 'The Prisoner' was a Man song, it would be 'Many Are Called'.

Ho! Arf! (said Evelyn, this time)

Ahh, that'll be Rover....

Snap Poll - Do I come out with complete cr*p (a) often, or (b) regularly?

Rob, I shall be lending you the entire series when I see you. You don't have to watch it, although if you do...you will be hooked within the first 5 mins of the first episode. So there.
