Sad to see the prisoner escape, but grateful it was quick. Like Nick I watched the whole series again just recently. Marvellous, bordering on the hysterical stuff. Particularly enjoyed Derren Nesbit's cameo performance as a real-life Alan Tracey!

I can only join in.  The word iconic was designed for series like The Prisoner.  And don't forget his contrbutions to Braveheart and Ice Station Zebra.

My favourite:  Hammer or Anvil, where he did for Leo McKearn before his Rumpole days.

Incidently, back in 1970 I was invited never to return to Portmerion again after an argument about having to pay to visit the Hotel grounds.  Should have worn me blazer...

For some reason I never got to watch The Prisoner first time around. Absolutely no idea why that happened; maybe it was on at the wrong time or something. However if we're talking films then it has to be Hell Drivers (1957) with the aforementioned Mr McG in a truly menacing lead role, plus a very young pre-Man From Uncle David McCallum and a pre-James Bond Sean Connery.

Given that any celeb death is bound to bring on a round of deluxe DVD sets, has it worn well or would someone too young to see it at the time (admittedly I do have a taste for such things as I have heard it described) wonder what all the fuss was about all these years on?

The reason most of us on this site listen to music these days, don't miss a single programme on the TV, absolute crap mostly. Except for the odd comedy show or natural history programme, there's nothing else.
So begs the question. Why do we have to pay for a TV Licence.....I'm seriously thinking of not paying anymore.....
