RIP Rick Parfitt
« on: December 24, 2016, 06:17:10 PM »
2016 is ending as it began.

Rick Parfitt from Status Quo has climbed the celestial stairs today.

Despite being put down by many, the Quo were a massive part of the Rock Scene. Piledriver is still one of the rawest Rock 'n' Roll albums ever to grace vinyl.

And I believe it was Allan Herons son, Martin who said something along the lines of "Quo a three chord wonder, there are at least 11 chords in Whatever You Want." (If I have misquoted I apologise).

RIP Rick - your rockin' was a lot of fun back in the 1970's. I still remember the carnage of the Southend Kursaal ballroom after the Quo had hit town.

And I remember the carnage of Bridlington whatever it was called in 77 or 78 plus a couple of other times I've seen them. Became uncool to admit being a fan of Status Quo, but I loved them. Could cheer me up no matter how pressing the circumstances. Usually a 0-1 defeat.

As for Rick Parfitt, well he was one of those blokes I used to wish I looked like.

RIP Rick Parfitt. Hope you get whatever you want up there.

And only 68…

Jones and Leonard, Parfitt and Rossi.

Partnerships we were privileged to enjoy.

I wasn't a big fan of the band, but I defy anyone to come up with a more suitable opening act to Live Aid.
