Olly, my story, fades into absolute insignificance compared to yours. In the early 60s, when the Oulton Park Gold Cup was held for F1 cars, and the cars/drivers were not hidden away from the public, Woolfe family legend has it, as the Lotus mechanics worked on the car, I stood behind Jim Clarke, he turned round to walk away, and stood on my foot. See what I mean about insignificance compared to yours?
I was 10 when he died. I still recall at school, during break when we played football in the yard, I made everyone have a minute's silence.
Don't know about the Senna story (who I watched at Oulton from Formula Ford to F3), but I believe the spot at Hockenheim where Jim Clarke's memorial is, is not where his car ended.
I ashamedly admit despite for ever and a day saying I'm going to the Jim Clarke museum in Duns, I still haven't.
And I too have a confession to make. I never recalled the sound of a tractor engine on my Happy Days cd, hence with great anticipation I was going to put it on...only to discover I didn't recall the sound of a tractor engine cos I discovered I haven't got the Happy Days cd in the first place!
I've tried to attach a photo of the two photos I have on the wall at home above the stairs. Too large to upload and can't reduce it enough. One is the cockpit of an old MG, the other is Jim Clarke in the Lotus 49, airborne at the Nurburgring 1967 GP
