New Board suggestions
« on: April 14, 2008, 12:56:27 AM »
I've opened up the Forum with just two Boards -

General Discussion, where the rule is as was usual on the Manboard; anything goes
Collectables, intended mainly to swap information on the availability of memorabilia, old vinyl, rare cds and other artefacts of the band's existence

If you feel the range of boards should be expanded, please add your suggestion within this topic.

If a new board is suggested, all forum contributors are entitled to agree or disagree with the proposal, adding their views by replying to the post.
Boldly going.......

Jules - Just some ideas to chuck about:

Classic Man - to cover the 1968 to 1976 Period
Man Now - 1983 to Now
Other Bands - To cover other bands we like (With a special UFO sub forum for Mr Davies  ;D)
Non Music Topics - Where we an discuss other media such as Films, TV Progs, Books (with a special Dr Who forum for me  :-[)
Introduce Yourself - For new contributors (and perhaps some older ones) to tell us about theirselves and their History with Man

Some good thoughts there Tel.

This forum has the ability to create 'child' boards too, so an "Other Bands" section could be reasonably well organised.

How about a "Recommendations" section? This would give folks a chance to shout out for music we often woulkdn't hear about otherwise.

Recomendations is - there is a lot of music out side of Man (believe it or not) that people could chuck in.

For what it's worth.....with all the sub topic titles, is it a good idea to have a tick next to the sub topic title signifying one has posted on that topic? BFC message board does it, and it is useful if having a quick nosey to see if anyone has replied.

but since I talk cr*p so no one replies to me anyway, not much point really.....but being such a swell guy, I'm thinking of you   ::)

Hi Rob. This is already activated, although not the little tick you're familiar with on the BFC board. On the Manband Forum, if you see a little document icon with a smiley face at the bottom, that means you've posted in that topic.

The collectables forum was a good idea... other than that, I think a Man forum, an Other Music forum and a General Discussion forum would probably do.

EDIT: Would probably be a good idea to make the Ancestral Manboard topic a stickied topic, so it stays at the top, rather than descending into obscurity.

... then, when you post, why does it take you back up to the index, not to your post in the topci?

You get about 5 minutes to review your post and go back to edit it. Just in case you have one of the "Doh!" moments.

I'm prone to them myself from time to time, and have previously had the benefit of admin access to be able to preserve my dignity. Thought I'd share the joy with everyone. Especially useful for people visiting Gremany.

You get more than 5 minutes, I edited the Man on BigL Radio post almost a day later..Useful to add info to a previous mailing..

I'm still wondering why you get kicked out of the topic when you post. Is there a setting I missed?
