Dug up an old tape of "Hitch Hikers Guide" I recorded from the tele.
It still really grates how wrong and inappropriate Sandra Dickenson was as Trillian.  >:(

The macaw from that advert said she was very difficult to deal with. Which was surprising, as at the time he wasn't a talking parrot........

John - too many words in that sentence. Should have read thus:

It still really grates how wrong and inappropriate Sandra Dickenson was.

The macaw from that advert said she was very difficult to deal with. Which was surprising, as at the time he wasn't a talking parrot........

And while we are on the subject of old adverts and squeaky Sandra, anybody remember the appaling futuristic advert where her equally wrong and inappropriate husband was demonstrating a gadget (an induction hob, I fancy it was) and ol' squeaky appeared on a videophone wristwatch saying: "You can put the dinner on, honey, I'll be home in twenty minutes"?

Gentlemen, let's hear it for the nineties - the decade that largely saw off at least one of the worst showbiz couples ever. Too bad that it gave us Richard & Judy as a return parting shot........

Here I am, brain the size of a planet and you want me to think about Sandra D. And me with this terrible pain all down the left side of my diodes!

Can I just think about Zooey Deschanel?   Not sure if she's anymore appropriate, but she'll calm my braincells more!

Careful - we're only a whisker away from someone mentioning the excellent 13 x 1hr radio serial of Lord of the Rings that Brian Sibley did for the Beeb. Only a whisker!

Featured John le Mesurier, Michael Hordern, Robert "hic!" Stephens, Ian Holm, William Nighy, Peter "Grouty" Vaughan. Someones bound to mention it.

They repeated the Omnibus documentary on Douglas Adams a couple of weeks ago, originally shown the year after he passed away. Excellent stuff but he did not want to be a novelist, preferred to be a playwrite/Script writer.

Also (off tangent very slightly) anybody been watching the absolutely brilliant Last Chance To See with Stephen Fry and Mark Carwardine. They've been following some of the journeys that Mark undertook with Douglas Adams in the 1980's to see/film/photograph animals on the edge of extinction. There was some heartwarming stories about how some animals are coming back from almost extinction thanks to the efforts of naturalists around the world. Unfortunately the Yangztee River Dolphin, mentioned much in the book that Douglas and Mark wrote after their original trek did not survive and is now officially extinct.

Just one of those random thoughts

Wonder how well Bernie Leadon did out of it all - Journey Of The Sorcerer has been used on every format.

Yes we've been watching Last Chance To See here in Tallsen Towers - excellent TV, that bumbling idiot Stephen Fry the perfect everyman to take us on such journeys.
