Well that's a bit of a bummer (bummer....arse....geddit?)

After my heading of OUCH!! being about the goings on in my mouth, I thought a heading of ARSE!! was going to be a thread about the goings on in or around Dai's arse. I was looking forward to reading that. Not in a gay or sexual deviancy type of way, no sirrreee, but I thought maybe poor Dai has the worse case of piles known to man (not the band - the species) and the cure is either pay a kings ransom or have his arse amputated. Or maybe he could get one of Bannon's university student bints working her way round......ok stop there.

And incidentally, if you support a team, even if they fold, how can you then go and support another team?

You wouldn't expect any other comment from a jock, only reason they can't hit the ball is cos they're thrashing out at the midges all the time..

3-day or 5-day cricket is a game without a point - unless the point is supposed to be sitting at the side getting hammered whilst its' going on.   Otherwise, it's just like a marathon game of chess with the exception that a good rain-doctor can always get you out of the shit if needs be.

The one day game is fine.  I know that many purists look down their nose at the 20/20 games but they are actually quite exciting.

And as for that other traditional English staple, tennis, how many Brits are through to the second round and, of them, how many are English?

The majority of Scots have nothing to do with either of these teams and, indeed, will despise both for everything that they have stood for.  Their current attempts to support anti-bigotry campaigns does nothing to eradicate the hateful basis of their joint histories.

It would be more accurate to suggest that most Scots will support their own team plus two others - whoever's playing Rangers and Celtic that week

Oh dear, Allan: 20/20 game condoned over 3 or 5 day? Stick to just not liking the game....

With you on the tennis though. But then I lived in Wimbledon for a couple of years, so I had to deal with all the shallow and superficial folk that flock to it.

To combine OUCh with ARSE, I was at the dentist on Tuesday & had my front teeth removed and replaced with falsers Not too painful due to a very skillful young Irish lass who is my dentist( and a great believer in very liberal usage of Novocaine!) but expensive! So deep sympathy all around. Can't believe that London Welsh have folded. I am a hybrid- product of a Scottish father, English mother who spent large part of my early years living in York(where I learned to follow their religion of cricket) in mid 1960's and then in Coleford but I went to school in Monmouth(where I was introduced to THAT country's religion_ Rugby Union.) Keith Jarrett the great Welsh kicker from the 60's used to use our school grounds to practice and I have a vague memory of our teacher taking us down to watch him one afternoon. So, a Scot who loves cricket(hates 20/20-it's just NOT cricket!) loves Rugby & is not bothered about football. Don't mind watching an international game when as long as it's not Scotland that's being played will always support England. For Rugby,though,I'm afraid its Scotland then Wales. No offence (though I will always support England when they are playing the French/All blacks/aussies. Now I am going to lie down in a darkened room and take loads of painkillers. No, it's not the teeth being sore, just the prospect of us getting thrashed by the Aussies in the Ashes!
