Thanks Nick, recognise any members in the audience, that could be Gina just to the right above the big switch in the middle of the keyboard..
..and Deke has a black eye from standing too close to JC the previous night..

I've had a really good stare, Pete...difficult to tell...inevitably I looked for a good clue such as me gawping or one of the regulars, but no sign. In any case, being tall I tended not to be at the very front otherwise I'd just get in the way and attract all manner of verbal abuse (bit like now, in fact). Couldn't make out Gina - but I'm now thinking that stage does look a bit high for The Roundhouse come to think of it....sigh....

I can see Burke Shelley in the front row... :o
Oh behave! And Tal's says she's ready for that interview in the next eagerly anticipated 'TWC'. I expect this will be a popular issue.

Ah, you and me both, Nick. Being of the tall persuasion I tend to lurk at the back of any given venue, so rarely if ever figure in audience pictures. The only exception to this rule has been Christmas At The Patti, when at least the height of the stage in its original incarnation allowed everyone a good view of proceedings. The post-Anneka version saw me generally about 3 or 4 people back, and usually to one side.

The advantageto being tall, of course, is that I can see over the top of practically everyone else so rarely if ever miss out on what is going on. Although taking pictures can often be difficult.

The pic is too small for me to get a good look at,but given the brilliant deductions so far I would like to consult Allan & Oric, but I suspect that we can rule out Glasgow as the gigs were at the Apollo(sadly now long gone) which had a very high stage and as a consequence had the first several rows of seats removed. If you ran down the front you had to crane your neck just to try & see the very front of the stage. So stage TOO high to be Glasgow Apollo. So either it IS the Roundhouse or Edinburgh.

Correct - the stage at the Apollo was much higher.  (As can be seen in the Clash movie Rude Boy!!)

However, being my usual picky self, I don't think they removed any of the front seats.  In the days of the Green's Playhouse there was a lower level platform to the stage that was removed when the refurbishment (if that is the right word) to the Apollo took place.  If I'm remembering correctly this will be the reason for the gap from the first row to the stage rather than removal of any of the rows of seats.

I do recall being proud when one of the seats gave out under me when I was bopping along to Free  8)

I bow to your superior pickiness :D Also, Old though I now am, I was too young to go to Greens(was it 1972 that it changed?) Sadly, being gulible I was repeating the myth re front rows that I was told back in 70's

Free? If I hear that blummin inane track, Alright Now, ...................oh, wrong thread.......

Well played Allan, that's a comedian's trick isn't it? Go off topic, then bring it back on with a one liner. Unlike Daughton who just ignores the topic :)

To go off topic again, I do sympathise with your views on "that" song.   It was atypical of Free, and not the best song imo - it was saved by the excellent instrumental break in the middle.  Unfortunately, it's the song now firmly associated with them but way, way short of the best that they did

Mmmm. Huh? Wha?

I'm sure we've had this Free speech before, possibly during a Pink Island discussion.
My favourites are both sides of WIP 6062.

A cherished memory is doing a drunken Wilson, Kepple & Betty along the gravel paths of the Vondelpark in Amsterdam with an ex while singing the bass line.
Buh-duh Buh-duh-duh. Buh-duh Buh-duh-duh. Buh-duh Buh-duh-duh. Buh-duh du-du-du-duh.
Aaah. The innocence of your mid-thirties.

Oh yes, Mr D - the value of free speech shouldn't be underestimated.

No.

And apparently that stage isn't too high for The Roundhouse.
