Man at The Leopard, Doncaster, October 10th 2009

Shades of Wrexham sadly. Just 13 people in the audience tonight, and two or three punters downstairs playing pool.

Damn shame, as the performance was top notch. Everyone played well, everyone had a good time, and the musical fruits of touring are ripening nicely on stage.

Same set list as at Leeds on Thursday, but again the longer songs were treated as a jumping off point rather than played by rote. Spunk Rock and Many Are Called were particularly strong in my opinion, with C'mon and Bananas fetching up very closely behind. Phil's singing on Dream Away was first class, and a worthy tribute to Micky and Deke.

A special mention has to go to James Beck, who over the three shows I've seen this tour has gone from strength to strength. He's stepped into some much treasured shoes to be sure, but has done so in a measured and unassuming way that allows his playing to speak for itself. He's shining bright, and it's been a privilege to watch and hear.

Special mention also to Cezza and Mrs Cezza. Having been so disappointed that the Rhondda gig was cancelled, they travelled up to sample the delights of Yorkshire so as not to miss out this tour.
Boldly going.......

Why is leopard pronounced 'leppard', when leotard is pronounced leo - tard?

It's been a quiet sort of day as you may have guessed.
