I recieved this letter from HMV
Here is an update on the MAN LIVE AT THE REX 2005: BONUS CD DVD
from order no.

It's out of stock, but don't worry, we're doing all we can to get it, fast.  It's a high priority for us.  If you don't want to wait, login to 'my account' at hmv.com to cancel your order.  We won't charge you, until it's in the post.

It seem strange to me how they ask for pre -orders then cant fulfill those orders, No way to run a business

Well I have recieved the DVD but find its not what it seems, it has printed on the back live in the Rex Lorsch 2005, but was filmed earlier. 2005 was Mickys last Gig in Lorsch which me and a few friends were at, this has Deke playing, so this must be an earlier gig as I thought Deke left Man in 2004. Please put me right if I am wrong

I think what you have is a reissue of the original DVD which was issued in 2005.  I'v checked the packaging of the original release and there's no mention anywhere to suggest the date of the gig.   It's certainly copyrighted in 2005 but there's certainly nothing anywhere to so much as imply that the gig itself was in 2005.

Looking at the giglist on the Archive I'd suggest that the most likely date for the gig was 21/11/2002  (Which is a pity because if it had been the 22nd I could have asked if everyone remembered where they were when the Man DVD was shot  ;))

I'm confused (again) - no change there.

So Live at the Rex (released 2005 with the two guitar necks on the cover) is the same as Live at the Rex 2005 (released 2008 with the Da Vinci spreadeagled man on the cover), but the gig is actually from 2002? What's the line-up - are both Micky and Deke playing? And what's the set list? And is it any good as a DVD?

Watching God Walking Past (excellent!) made me hungry for more live footage of the classic line-ups. All I have at the moment is Man Live. Any recommendations from the team about what to get next?

Just checked my "Live at the Rex" DVD. Tracklist is identical to above list. Released 2005, I can't see a recording/performance date. It was George's first German tour.

(EDIT) It's the voiceprint one, black cover with two yellow/orange guitar necks..
Virgin places don't mean a thing to people who never bring their hearts along.

It states on the back of new release in Red (very small writing) it was recorded live at the Rex Lorsch -Germany 2005
I was hoping it was the 2005 tour as Micky played but no problem it saves me buying the original when I am over in Dec.

If anyone doesn't have a copy then there is now just one new copy of the DVD/CD combo on Amazon for under a fiver delivered. I ordered one for me & another for a mate & mine arrived yesterday. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0016AJU0O/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have only had time to quickly skim through. Seems pretty good. First version of Man I have seen without Micky. Amazingly fast version of "Ride & the View". According to Deke's notes this was the first commercial outing for George Jones (who looks amazingly youthful & sounds very like Micky when singing). It's not great image quality looking more like a VHS tape but is very well filmed with plenty of camera angles. The sound is excellent. There are lots of smiles from members of the band who all seem to be enjoying themselves. It's easily worth a fiver.
