My tuppence worth - no, don't add an ignore button. It's a forum, fer chrissake. It's where debate and discussion take place. If there's someone whose views you think you already know, and you don't want to hear them simply restated in yet another post, then don't read the post. But don't turn a blind eye to the views of fellow fans! I'm sure my granny woild have had some trite aphorism on teh subject. All grist to the mill, or something like that.

I agree with Oric the old Saying "One Mans Meat is another Mans Poison" saying seems apt at the moment..... Long may we listen to Rock music and post our opinions for people to discuss wether they agree or not agree,

Pete
PS if this reply is on twice its not my fault.

For me, the people whose views I disagree with often contribute some of the more interesting posts.

Strongly agree.

However.....I think it's also up to us individually to know where to draw the line.

Nationsounds - the label that brought you Shake The Nation and raised £1,500 in memory of Micky...

Ah, the sensorship of Big Brother at last.. Another way to discourage Man fans.. :'( (the smiley's for real)

This is about self-imposed filtering Dan, not censorship. The mod allows individuals to choose to ignore posts from people they don't want to listen to any more.

Personally it's not for me (and I'm not even sure the suggestion was really serious), but it is a capability that could be provided if demanded.

I'm of the view that everyone has a voice that should be heard. I don't have to agree with them, and on occasions I may take exception to them, but I'll not be censoring them (beyond the normal moderation for taste and decency that goes on around here already)
Boldly going.......

All of a sudden I have a burning desire for the 'ignore user' facility to be implemented.

Mixed feelings on that score. For me, the people whose views I disagree with often contribute some of the more interesting posts. Given the 'ignore list' seems to be configurable by each person it's not a horrible solution. Let me know if you're serious about this (no smileys in the quoted post to allow me to detect any wink factor) and I'll look into it further. Unless it's me you're planning to ignore, which would of course be a different matter entirely.  ;)

Feel free to ignore the request. I *was* serious when I posted it but, on reflection, it means that people could hide my posts too :)
