So you're the  bloke who knows where the clematis is.

Python the pressure??? Stay away with those snakes, Nick, will ya?!

Not necessarily. Quite a few trainee sycamore trees have tried to take root in the garden. In fact, they have taken root in the garden. Suddenly popped up. Apparently there's been a few instances of this due to the exceptionally windy weather we had earlier in the year and I believe everything everyone tells me, especially if it's true. Plenty of squirrels. Clematis waking up.

I had lesser celandine for dinner last night....

Err...sounds yummy, Mr Saint (visibly cringeing with non-verbal leakage....)

You could certainly feast yourself on the contents of my garden...in fact, if you and yours fancy eating your way though my ever increasing lesser celandine collection currently infringing its way across my lawn, we'd all end up winners! Unless there's another way of getting rid of it....digging it up would be a bit drastic, might just as well dig up the whole garden!

Why, is your local called 'The Clematis'? An unusual name for a pub...

It's a real bind to get there.

Aaaah.
My pun didn't work because I was thinking of the Convolvulaceae when Clematis is of course Ranunculaceae.

Much stroking of old man's beard...

I've just heard from StEvil who as a birthday present to himself is in Paris researching the origin of the word Dandelion. The origin of the word is apparently Dandies from Lyon.
Bon anniversaire.

And there's me always believing it came from the French for lion's tooth (or teeth) because of the serrations on the leaves...  ???

That makes sense.  Forgive the spelling but Dente (teeth) de (the) Lyon (Lion).

On the other hand, does it matter.  The bastards are growing like triffids in my garden.  Unfortunately I sometimes mix up the words for dandelions and daffodils up which gets me some strange looks when I tell people I'm trying to poison them and they won't die.

Potao / potaato.  Whatever.

Spooky. I've been mixing up dandelions and daffodils in the conversations I've been having with a pensioner friend.

She has mild dementia so it doesn't mean much to her...

Apologies if anyone's offended.  I know it's a horrible condition, having experienced it with a distantishish relative.  But as ??? has as a sign off - if you can't laugh at others, who can you laugh at?

Matt, the cartoonist from the Telegraph had a cartoon printed recently with a bunch of old folk carrying a banner stating ' Retirement Age Protest' with the strap line
'What do we want'?
'Why did we come here'?
'What were we saying'?

Perhaps you had to be there...
