I seem to remember the NME doing solid vinyl 7" cover freebies for a while, post punk.

Yes Mr Oric - my shelf fondling continues and I've found a Tom Waits/Jesus & Mary Chain/Huker Du/Trouble Funk (Yo!) one dated Feb 1986 and a Style Council/Lloyd Cole/Robert Cray/Prefab Sprout one from Feb 85, both with two tracks each side. Suspect the latter is drearier than the former.

Hifly (a rather rare little set up) with a one-sided flexi 33 for The Pirates, and an ELP one - a one sided flexi 33 for the 'Brain Salad Surgery' LP featuring the title track (which I don't think was on the actual album) plus 8 excerpts from the LP itself. Notable is the no-expense spared paper reproduction of the sleeve, complete with foldy-out bits. Free with....the NME!

You need to get out more.....'musical obsessions'.... I've just updated my stamp collection, repainted the latest subbuteo set, re-categorised my postcard collection, polished my OO steam gauged engine and now off to the local church to practice my campanology...I'm trying to get into the finals of the most f**king annoying Sunday morning bell ringer in the N. Hi chaps.
Man have appeared on a flexi disk.  They are featured on an eastern european flexi disk/ plastic postcard; which is a very pleasant poo brown colour.  I've been unable to play it so can't verify the track but it was sold as featuring the song Love Your Life.  The title of the track is in some eastern european language so thats no help.  The other track on the flexi is by someone called Irena.

Jules has had this item in the discography (under DYLIHN) for quite a while... probably since Andy T brought it to his attention.

I think that was called "Dishevelment Blues" as I remember sourcing a copy for a saucy wench when I was at Uni.

We were talking about flexi discs the other day. I found this in an old copy of Record Collector it gives a bit of info about the Pegasus flexi disc. I think the writer confused Ray Williams with Ray 'Taff' Williams otherwise the piece is quite interesting.

the 7" sampler given away at the Band Called O/Sassafras/Randy Pie package tour - respectively Ain't Nothin' I Wouldn't Do/Wheelin' and Dealin'/I Am the Joker. Now THAT was an EP ... ! Fantastic gig too, Glasgow City Hall, just after O had supported Man I think. Randy Pie were awesome (not often I use that word).

Colin, Been trawling through some old magazines today and just found this (hopefully attached) it's the advert for the tour and the first 200 ticket buyers received the free EP. So yours is one of 200, that would make it quite rare in my book.
I managed to get a copy many years later, all the lettering neat and handwritten, someone must have been burning the midnight oil especially if they completed all 200.

I haven't looked at my copy for decades, but I do remember the hand-writing now you mention it! (Still can't look at it - not an emotional thing, it's now at the bottom and back of the box room, no way I'm braving that!)
