It's a lovely bit of country, but Oystermouth road could well be a more interesting option as you could hit Wind St after the gig.  Depends what you're after.  Driving maybe be the only option if you stay in pontneddfechan  as some of the local taxi firms can be reluctant to take a fare with no prospect of picking up a return fare.

Culture or beer?  Same thing to me.

A good pub for those who want to meet up in near the venue would be The Pontardawe Inn, known locally as The Gwachell (pronunced Gwaacchelle , semi hard middle 'c' not like Michelle.  Imagine the sound of clearing your throat).  5 minute walk. Real ale, food, home to some of the best bits of what was known as the Pontardawe folk festival. but now has another title incorporating universiality and a more diverse reference.

I am in the San Francisco area and I will not be able to make it to either of the concerts.  Are the concerts going to be recorded as this might be a way for the people who can not attend to listen to the music. Of course there should be a charge/donation for the music?

I know, did a survey after my visit to the site, and told them what I thought about it.

Bunkhouse is booked. 3 b&b's available though..
Would prefer to walk to the gig and have some beers though. Doesn't look like theres a lot of b&b's in pontardawe though..

I have my feelers out - ooh er missus - but wouldn't hold out much hope for B&B in Ponty.

As I type I'm wondering if the Ponty festival site may be helpful?

May be a source of info re B&B's?  Perhaps not the site itself, but an e-mail asking for info....?

Something I've just remembered - The guy who kept the Pen yr Allt was a mate of Rick Wakeman and he used to stay there when he was in the area.  Don't know if the same guy is keeping it now.

This as pointless as you want it to be.

Now then, next May...

..Padtardawe Arts Centre..
Now for the tickets..

PONTARDAWE..

Booking tickets not so easy..
Tried the Arts Centre site, and have to create an account, so filled in all the info.
Then get an error message saying my phone number, e-mail and postcode aren't in the right format..
I type my phone with a gap between the area code, and then without the gap, e-mail in CAPS, then lower case, and finally post code with and without gaps, upper and lower cases, all combinations off, and then gave up and went to Derricks. They don't even list the gigs..
Guess I'll have to phone PAC tomorrow..

well, it's 10 miles from Oystermouth Rd to the Arts Centre, so I think I'm on Oystermouth Rd, and either drive, or share a taxi if there's a few of us. Of course that also supposes somebody would share a taxi with me  ::)

Apologies for the typo when I first mentioned the Dillwyn (with two "l's").  Take a right out of the front door and the Arts centre is about a two minute walk down Herbert St and is on the corner of the first road junction on the left.

Herbert st is rammed with all sorts of restaurants and take aways, Indian / Chinese / kebabs / chippies. The Indian Cottage is a particularly good, er, Indian restaurant.

The Gwachel is just a few minutes further on and when you get to the end of the road the pub is at the bottom of the bridge / flyover / river crossing / whatever it's called on yourpizza / right and set in a bit of a dip.

There's a Tesco nearby for those of you who are travelling and don't want to pay motorway prices for a bottle of water or whatever.

I'm beginning to feel like a rep for the Ponty tourist board; I don't live there by the way and am not on commission from anywhere I've mentioned :D

So, you had to buy THOSE Roger Waters tickets.. :o

What would make the 18th absolutely perfect, a suprise visit by Barry Melton to join the Green Ray for a few numbers..
C'mon Baz, nearly three months to sort out a flight..

Dodgy typo on the food front; stick 'Pizza' in the food thing and it should make sense.  Bit like Italy and France in the World Cup.
