AFAIK the time comes from the servers, but the offest value is whatever you have set within your Forum profile. That's why it looks different if you view as a Guest, or after you login.

Surely we're all used to operating in multiple time/space continuums now? Basic Manfan skill is being in several places at the same time.

...peace Jules i've been having a problem in the last week or two: when i click on "show unread messages" it's been saying there aren't any to show, even when there are more than a few new things posted on the board...... btw there was a post a while ago in another thread about the pros and cons of root canal.well my girlfriends' filling chipped a few weeks ago and we dumbly didn't do anything about it because she wasn't in any great pain...until last night, we were up all night and had to go to the dentist today.she is scared to death of the dentist.it was quite a production.well they gave her some pills and she nodded out, they did some work, now she's pain free at home sleeping like a baby.it cost a pretty penny but i'm happy she got through it.from what i've seen if she can get through  root canal most anyone can.that's all...peace

Speculation on my part but you've left out the "since last visit" part of the link.   If you visit the site and leave without checking this out, any that you hadn't read at that point would be excluded on your next visit.

Hi Davey, I'll need to see if I can replicate your experience here. It's working fine for me using IE8 on a Windows XP machine. Could you drop me a message to confirm what browser and version you're using? Useful also to know what operating system you're on.

Jules.  Occasionally I get the same problem.  Is it because I'm a Dave too?

It's not a big issue.  The Category page icons show unread messages (green) but when I click on the icon the 'Recent Unread Messagees' page shows 'No Unread Messages' but a drill down to the threads may show one or two with 'new' message buttons - and there they are.

I'm using IE8 and Vista.

Yep, that's the problem, all Dave's must stop using computers..

No, that's a mag you pick up outside Boots..
I'm using IE8 and Vista.
..or are they using you?? Debate.

Thanks Dave. I've got IE8 and Vista on one of the other machines here, so I'll see if I can reproduce the problem.

for me it has something to do with my new dell lap top ,which is now on the fritz due to an "anti virus"virus that seems to come with the computer as far as i'm concerned.i'm on my old computer,a somewhat antiquated apple i mac, which never had a virus, and the "show unread posts since last visit" is working again-peace-davey

A suggestion. Davey, Dave Bardsley & Oric have all experienced the "unread posts" problem. All 3 have a local time set that is different from the server time. Davey experiences more problems than the other two, and his time offset is greater. Is the problem connected with having a local time set that is different to the server?

Actually, it seems that server time is GMT+1, so UK people should have their local time set to (server time - 1).
