Hmmm. It appears to me that the ManBoard has been hacked:

Many thanks to Mark for alerting me to this problem, and also for digging into the issue and coming up with some answers while I've been away. Definitely worth a pint next time we meet.

The bad news is that we had indeed been hacked again, along with what seems to be many other bulletin boards using the same underlying engine. The good news is that, as this is a well supported engine, the backroom boys had done a great job in creating some validation and correction scripts to confirm and then repair the damage. All applied now, as has the series of upgrades needed to remove the vulnerability.

Some avatars are still missing, but please feel free to re-instate yours now if desired (the hack was originally inserted through a rogue avatar). Let me know if it's still not displaying for you.

We're none of us ever safe from malicious attacks whilst online, so be very careful out there.

Jules. If you click on the "W3C XHTML 1.0" logo at the bottom of any page, the validation fails with over 40 errors.

Not quite. It doesn't render correctly in Firefox 3.5.2. The scrolling text is right up in the top left corner.

Working fine for me in Firefox 3.5.2.

Maybe clear the cache and try again, as I see you don't have the border around the scroller rendered (which means you're probably not showing the latest scroller version)

I haven't tried Opera yet, 'spose I should......

I've looked at the scroller in Opera. Yuck! Not sure I can be arsed to come up with an Opera version though, but I may look at the stylesheets to see if the scroll bars can be a little less intrusive. Opera works fine with Marquee though.

I did notice last night that Firefox lacks a bit of sensitivity when pages are updated. If the change is subtle (like swapping a ' for a " for example) it thinks nothing has changed, and keeps the cached version. If you get a bit more brutal (like splitting a line in two for example), then it behaves more sensibly.

I've noticed this happening over the last few weeks - I'm typing away but sometimes, once I get to near the bottom of the text entry box, the bit I'm actually typing disappears off screen and bounces up and down and my poise lost.

In fact this has just happened on my entry regarding Mr Crisp under the 'Hmmm' thread.

Interesting. 

Have to say I'm not sure what would be causing that. I'll have a play with the text entry screens and see if I can replicate the problem, which may give me some more clues.

Yo. It certainly doesn't happen every time, but I'll let you know next time it does....

In fact...I've just managed to replicate it! If you type without copying and pasting anything into the text entry box (such as inserting a quote) it scrolls ok - but if you copy and paste then type it bounces when you get near the bottom! Maybe I'm the only one who has come across this phenomena as many of my entries are long and waffly without actually achieving anything constructive. Obviously the Manboard Forum is so electronically sophisticated that it can recognise drivel and attempts to throw it out. Another interesting thing about me is (bzzzt crackle unplug)
